Some husbands exploit their wives. The following story explains this;
”Obi travelled to the United States of America for greener pastures. He tried to survive but life there turned to be tough. One day he went to a club house and he saw an advert of a company calling for girls from any part of the world who can be sex workers .The girls must be sponsored by residents of the United States .The revenue accruing from the business will be shared sixty percent for the company and fourty percent for the sponsor. Obi saw that as an opportunity. He quickly returned to Nigeria. He had a meeting with Agatha his fiancée whom he had proposed for marriage before he travelled to the United States. He then promised Agatha of marriage immediately he returns to Nigeria. Agatha quickly told her parents and with the few Dollars at the command of Obi, he performed all the marital rites of Agatha’s family and community. Agatha and Obi travelled to the United States. Obi took Agatha straight to the company and left Agatha there. It was after three days that Agatha was shown the agreement the company and Obi made concerning her coming. She will not leave the company for three years. She must be cooperating with the company’s orders by accepting men who want to have sex with her. If by any chance the security of the company finds out that she wants to escape, she will be secretly murdered. Obi was never found for more than half a year. He visited the company one day and Agatha tried to see him but the company security refused her from getting close to him. At the end of the three years, Agatha was released to go without a dime. Then the contract between Obi and the sex work company ended. Agatha tried to get her travelling papers but failed. It was one Mrs. Clark who after hearing Agatha’s story took her to the Nigerian Embassy and from there she was flown home to Nigeria. When Agatha came back to Nigeria, she told her parents all that happened. The trouble Obi caused between the two families is better imagined than experienced. Obi has not visited Nigeria nor communicated Agatha till date”. That is how the word “marriage” dealt with Agatha.
