Learning to Blog

Though I started writing on my personal blog since 10 years ago, I did not really learn how to blog properly. I just merely wrote my posts in Blogger, selected a theme that I like, added some ads to the template, that’s it. I did not really learn how to monetize my blog, how to write better SEO content, as I thought it’s just my personal blog, I just wrote about my daily life, to express my thoughts or to share something nice with my friends or readers.

I joined BlogJob last month, and found that it is not only a site for us to earn from blogging, there are forums for us to learn how to blog as well. I started to be more interested in learning how to blog, as I was inspired by some members there. Then, I joined LiteracyBase, they have the similar concept, where it is also a site for us to blog and learn how to blog. I am really grateful for being able to join these sites, as they created the opportunities for me to start learning how to blog. It is not just write our contents and make some extra money, there are certainly more than that. I am thankful for those members who have vast knowledge in blogging and creating SEO friendly contents, and yet they are willing to share with even newbie like me.

A few days ago, I just received a newsletter from a parenting blog I subscribed to, and the blogger recommended a free online conference for bloggers, which is Profitable Blogger Summit. It is only a 5 day event, and when I knew about it, it was already the third day. Though I did not manage to listen to all the interviews from the experienced bloggers, at least I got to know some topics from the interviews. These are really eye-opening sessions for me. Besides social media sharing and writing SEO contents, I got to know more topics about blogging such as building email list, creating viral posts, building sales funnel, utilizing Facebook live, writing profitable e-books, making affiliate sales, pitching brands, etc. These are all very new topics to me. Though I haven’t get to listen to the interviews and know how to do them, I will definitely go and find out more about them when I have time later. What also inspired me is that these bloggers are mostly stay at home moms, just like me, and they started to learn from the scratch. Within just two or three years, they are quite successfully in blogging. These are quite inspiring!

    • What I learn about blogging is by accident. I am a newspaper columnist in our own locality. I write once a week for a daily newspaper. I write a commentary about the news of the day, community events, and even political happenings. I have some friends working abroad and they want to read my updates especially my column. And I have some friends too who are online writers. They write on blogs. Presto! An idea has come to mind. I created a blog site where my columns are regularly posted and my friends abroad are updated then.
