  1. It becomes a treasure to the receiver.

What are the handmade gifts that you received that is still with you until now? For me, I still have the card that was made by my three college friends during my 21st birthday. It is made of a bond paper folded into two and has a simple flower drawings with their messages for me. Seeing this makes me remind those happy and unforgettable moments with them. It makes me felt loved by them because I can see their efforts through that simple card. In my heart, my thankfulness to them is forever as I was looking at it. I know they made it with love and they give their best creative way to do it.

  1. It is cost-effective.

You can do something that is worth it for less cost. Although, we often say that the cost of a gift is not to be counted but for the giver, it is something a factor. More often than not, gift-giver look for something that is not cheap and with high quality but by giving a “D-I-Y” gift, you can give more than what it cost. We can do many handmade gifts like bracelet or pair of earring made of beads, cards made of old folders with dry leaves or dry petals as decorations, crocheted bag or wallet, and so on. We can also design a cloth out of a shirt that you can’t use. In youtube, we can search many ways of how to design a simple and plain t-shirt into a new one.

  1. It can be personalized.

I certain most of us wants to give a gift that reminds of us to the receiver every time she or he see it. We also make sure that the gift we make is important or necessary to them. We make sure it brings joy to them. Some factors to consider in personalizing gifts are the favorite colors of your receiver, something sentimental in nature, something that shows love and care, and the receivers name on the gift. If you cannot make something on your own, we can buy something and add more design on it like printing the name, making a personalized box for the gift or paint it to add more beautification.

Do you still buy something you can give to your families and friends in the store? Of course, you can but doing handmade is something that is extraordinary. Although it takes time but giving gifts that are made with love and effort is really fulfilling.

So, D-I-Y!
