Birla, one of the leading industrial families of India are known for their religious and interest for support to poor and students through various activities. Besides hundreds of higher education centers, schools and other charity organizations there are number of Birla Temples in India in different cities of India.
Some of the famous temples built by Birla family are in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Krishna, Shahad, Vithoba, Pilani, Bhopal, Jaipur, Patna, Akola, Varanasi, Renukoot, Nagda, Brajrajnagar, Gwalior and Alibaug. All of these temples are visited by millions of devotees from all over the world known for their structural and architectural beauty.
It’s not possible to describe the beauty of all Birla Temples in one article post so I will try to give you an idea about one of these temples located on a hillock right in the heart of Hyderabad city. The Birla Temple devoted to Lord Venkateswara is one of the most visited temples by locals as well visitors from all over the country.
The Birla Temple in Hyderabad took more than ten years for completion of its construction with the help of Swami Rang Nath of Rama Krishna Mission is spread over an area of more than 50,000 square meters. An estimated quantity of 2000 tons of white marble stone has been used in this temple and the main attraction of the temple is Lord Venkateswara’ 11 ft high statue. There is another specialty as there are no traditional temple bells in this temple because this temple is symbol of peace and meditation.
The visit to this temple provides a lovely view of the entire city of Hyderabad from the height of 250 ft as the city as mentioned before is constructed on top of a hill located in the center of the city overlooking the world famous Hussain Sagar Lake and the statue of Buddha amidst the lake itself which is built across of Musi river, Makkah Masjid (Mosque), Charminar, Salar Jung Museum etc.
There are few wonderful gardens around the Birla temple, Hyderabad worth watching including NTR Gardens, Nehru Zoological Park and Mughal Garden besides many other beautiful buildings that Hyderabad and Secunderabad the twin cities are famous for.
