SOMETIMES WE ARE CONFUSED! WHAT IS BETTER FOR US YOGA OR GYM?

Sometimes we are confused….. What is better for us, what should we do & which we can enjoy most!

YOGA or GYM?

Let’s know what is this and why we are so confused!

WHAT IS YOGA?

There is no particular definition of YOGA. YOGA comes from the Sanskrit root ‘YUJ’ means ‘UNION’ or ‘CONNECTION’ or  ‘TO JOIN’ or ‘TO YOKE’.

This is the state of connection between body & mind. A joyful, blissful, experience through which we could be connected with our ‘INTERNAL SELF’.

“When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others”……Peace Pilgrim

WHAT IS GYM WORKOUT?

It is a practice session due to improvement of physical states, used by athletes, body-builder, exercise professionals. Now a days, it is very popular to young generation . Exercising the body and increasing strength with the help of equipments called ‘GYM WORKOUT’.

Now the topic of discussion is, what is better YOGA or GYM?

Each has own benefits we can’t really say one is better than other.  Though I am not a comparer, still I will go for YOGA. There are some reasons which made YOGA better than GYM WORKOUT.

  1. With YOGA, one can expect increasing flexibility, toning and strengthening without any equipment. After doing YOGA, we feel fresh and energetic.

It removes fat, it doesn’t increase our appetite.

Proper practices of YOGA acts on the internal organs of our body. Not only body, it acts over our mind also. It improves us mentally & spiritually.

On the other hand, we need time to go to GYM for workout. Because, this workout needs equipments which may not be affordable to everyone.

A GYM SESSION may increase our hunger and leads to over-eating.

It acts to improve us physically and rarely offers mental stimulation.

  1. YOGA is not a competition sport. It is a beautiful workout associated with body and mind. No comparing….. only feeling!
  2. It could be done anywhere, just needed a small space.
  3. No injuries, only comfort!
  4. It gives positive energy to our body and soul.
  5. Improves internal organs and systems.
  6. Practice of ‘ASHTANGA YOGA’ builds muscles and heats.
  7. It removes all aches & pains of the body.
  8. ‘BREATHING EXERCISE’ builds an awesome feelings & save us from many diseases. Remove stress, keep cool & calm and helps us to concentrate.
  9. No matter whatever your age or health, everyone can perform YOGA, while GYM WORKOUT is not designed to be therapeutic or senior friendly.
  10. All are smiling and happy who perform YOGA. No competition, always good vibes all around!

The last word is, both could be great for you, that you enjoy most and you can stick to!

An age old saying…  “THE LONGER IT TAKES, THE LONGER IT LASTS!”

Now you decide the better option for you.

    • An informative post. But I would suggest if one really wants to reduce weight and keep oneself fit then it is simply better one walks at least six kilometers a day if one finishes the distance in 50 minutes and follows the routine continuously and does body toning exercises one will be fit and the blood circulation will improve too and he will enjoy good sleep and be active.

As per yoga and gym one has to go there they do need a teacher or an institute to do the practice as it requires guidance too. It does take some time for one to reduce weight and one has to be regular and meticulous about his or her schedule. Then even they will produce results. It is good to do what one would want to do as one will continue with the same for a long time. Both are good but yoga is preferable or it is still better to simply walk and do some body and muscle toning exercises. Thanks for the share.

      • Thank you very much. We should what we enjoy most.... whatever may be that. Walk or run, yoga or gym, dance or arobix, whatever we want.
