Role of Social Media in the Modern Age

Once there was a time when there were no landlines, computers, cell phones etc. that was the time when you have to reach the next door to ask the neighbor about the new program in the society. Telegraphs were used for long distance communication with huge response time and even the emotions of both the parties were restricted to a point. People meeting each other, social parties and gatherings happening almost every weekend. Relations between people were far stronger in that era. Surprisingly people were very comfortable at that time even having lesser resources for communication.

First came the landline phones by which people were able to communicate with each other while sitting in their homes and it was way too expensive in the beginning. Technology then came with the invention of a computer which were the first use for official working purposes and then developed as a communication tool for people in the following years. Invention of cell phones came as a little surprise where you get rid of wires and you can manage your calls while driving, walking on the roads and even while getting refresh in the restrooms.

Advancement in cell phone is coming by every passing day and now the cell phone is not just for calls but it is your hub for office files, emails, photos, music, games and even a tool for capturing the images on the go. Socializing with people all around the world has come into the palm of your hand with the help of cell phones. Now is the time for Facebook, twitter, google+, LinkedIn etc. and all these are no more computer or laptop dependents. As all these social sites are available for you on your cell phone in term of apps.

Meeting people going for dinners with friends planning a weekend gathering, all these programs has shrinked due to more dependability on social media. When you can hear, watch and fun with the family and friends living KMs away can be done from the couch in your common room then why would you plan to go and physically meet them.

Advancement in technology has made the role of social media in the modern age, commendable one but it has a lot of things going against it when you talked from the aspect of people meeting people. The distance was way too much in the earlier time but now it has increased even further due to technology among the people. Relations are getting technology dependent is considered as the failure of the human societies.

Every one of us should maintain a balance in term of using technology. Technology should not be exploited as it will start affecting the everyday life of us. We should not stop meeting our family and friends just because of these apps, yes these apps are built to make our life easier but not for keeping a distance from your loved ones.
