Knowing How and When to Use Will Power

Events tend to repeat themselves. The tide of

opportunity comes to us all. And when we are

prepared for opportunity, our chance is sure to

come. Success depends upon more than being at the

right place at the right time- it depends

upon being ready.

Be ready when opportunity comes …. Luck is the

time when preparation and opportunity meet.

Wealth is in applications of the mind to nature;

and the art of getting rich consists not in industry,

much less in saving, but in a better order,

in timeliness, in being at the right spot.

Unless you have prepared yourself to profit by

your chance, the opportunity will only make you

ridiculous. A great occasion is valuable to you

just in proportion as you have educated yourself

to make use of it.

Take a second look at what appears to be someone’s

good luck. You’ll find not luck but preparation,

planning, and success-producing thinking ….

Will Power

There is a key which, if properly utilized and understood,

will allow us to achieve results that may seem unobtainable – the key

is desire. A baby elephant, tied to a tree with a large rope, pulls at the rope

unable to break free despite his desire. Then as the elephant grows large

he can be tied to the same tree with the same rope, and he never even tries

to break the rope again even though he could easily break the rope

with his present strength. The elephant owners broke the elephant’s desire

to put out any effort towards breaking the rope. If we do not allow

anyone or anything to break our desire – we can gain the strength

we need to accomplish anything. If we want something

badly enough, we are sure to get it. If we have

the desire, we have the power.

Where there is no power …. there is never any desire

to do a thing; and where there is strong desire to do

a thing …. the power to do it is strong.

It sometimes seems that intense desire creates not

only its own opportunities, but its own talents.

When your desires are strong enough you will appear

to possess superhuman powers to achieve.

Nothing stops the man who desires to achieve.

Every obstacle is simply a course to develop his

achievement muscle. It’s a strengthening of his

powers of accomplishment.

Ignore what a man desires and you ignore the very

source of his power ….

The greatest trouble with most of us is that our demands upon ourselves are so feeble, the call upon

the great within of us so weak and intermittent that

it makes no impression upon the creative energies;

it lacks the force that transmutes desire into realities.

You know from past experience that whenever you

have been driven to the wall, or thought you were,

you have extricated yourself in a way which you never

would have dreamed possible had you not been put to

the test. The trouble is that in your everyday life

you don’t go deep enough to tap the divine mind

within you.

The longer I live, the more I am certain that the

great difference between men, between the weak

and the powerful, between the great and the

insignificant, is energy – invincible determination-

a purpose once fixed means either death or victory.
