How You Play Scrabble; a kind of Insight

I play Scrabble every day on Facebook.   It is why I joined Facebook.  A nice free game which I can play on any computer, just log into Facebook, and there it is.

I always try for the seven letter word.  If I can’t, I try for a long word to get some points.  If there’s no where to play, really, I’ll do the one or two letter bit.

I noticed this; if I am playing with someone who likes long words, you’ll see three, four, even five seven letter words on the board.  This is because long words give plays to the other player as well as to yourself.

You have those extra letters to work with.

I play; Seventh, and you can use any of those letters to help you make a long word.   If you are like some people who will put an ‘a’ under the ‘h’ and add a ‘t’ so that you’ve spelled ‘ha’ and ‘at’ all you’ve done is block the use of the ‘h’.

Some players love to do that kind of sabotage, not realising they sabotage themselves.   The longer the words the more plays.  So that if you have no vowels or only one, you get an extra ‘e’ in my ‘Seventh’ which might help you make a seven letter word.

If you go for the little word to ‘block’ the use of a letter, well it might effect me, but could also effect you.

The reason I am labouring the point is that I’ve seen people perform acts which end up boomeranging on them. Maybe they felt that when they did the act someone else would suffer, but often times they get the repercussions.

Some people ‘think’ they are being strategic or are acting in their interest, when in the large picture, they are damaging themselves.
