We often than not like to do things that will or would make us susceptible to abuses from people. what i mean is this,have you ever been to a foreign country, where you don’t know anyone and you need directions to go somewhere. And there are some countries where people can see a total stranger asking for direction yet they will just look at them and not help.
So to my point, this is something i always see in public offices where i come from. and many young people are the one’s who have this kind of behavior whereby when they go to offices they never take the time to go to the customer care desk which is clearly laid out for anyone to see, and it is right there before them. why is it so hard for anyone to just go on and ask for help, or better still, look around the office we always have this signs that show where you should go and what you need to do, but we would rather ask around or sit somewhere for so long waste time that we would have avoided,just because we don’t want to take the initiative and read instructions laid out for us.
I have just been to a public office to run some errands, and i saw some young people who were just walking around the office where i was, and instead of just going to the customer care desk to ask for what they want, they come towards me to ask me where a certain department is. Before i could answer one of the staff came forward and told the young people please read instructions where you are and you will not fail your exams. so she actually took her time and explained to them why those signs are put up. I was really impressed on how she approached the whole thing. i wish all employees would be like that ready to help the lost.

Most of us are guilty of not reading those sign boards but seeking help from strangers. I am no exception.
In some point, there are things that needed to use common sense. Some people tend to be so lazy to think it over something. They rely on having the quickest information. Well, I had been traveling to different places and I tried research first before asking help from others. I guess we can't judge people for just asking a direction. There are times that these people have no sense of directions. We just need to make our patient longer and understand the differences from others.
You also have a point that we need to feel cautious in asking some directions from a stranger. Some may or may not render their help wholeheartedly. If we are in another country, we need to protect ourselves from bad elements. We can never tell what's running on their minds.
