Advantage and Disadvantage Of Working At Night

Have you experienced working in a company where night shift or graveyard shift is required? My sister usually has her work shift at night as a call center representative. She went to their workplace at 10 pm because 11 pm is the start of her shift and will be dismissed at 7 in the morning.

Having a night duty is so hard as I can see how it affects her physically. She even looks so skinny. Although she has a petite body but it is more skinny as she went through the night shift.  So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of working at night?

ADVANTAGES:

• One of the advantages of working at night is she can be able to attend some special occasions that will happen at day time.
• The company offers a night differential to them, which is 20% of their daily income.
• Those working at night has a 1 hour less time at work.
• If you want to enroll or go back to school while working, night shift is a very good help.

DISADVANTAGES:

• Working at night will decrease your body resistant easily.
• The physical body will get tired easily. Since our mind and body is programmed to sleep at night, it will surely affect our mind.
• You have to sleep at day time but is not enough.
• It will sacrifice the bonding time with the family. Example, my sister has her 2 days day off in a week, however, that 2 days will still her sleeping time because according to her, sleeping at daytime during her working days is not enough.
• Walking outside the house at night when going to work or going home is not safe.

There are lot more of advantages of disadvantages of working a graveyard shift aside from those listed above. But sometimes, we have to go with the flow and adopt the changes when it comes to working because it is needed. As they have said, there is no work where you don’t have to undergo some changes.
