The Zombie Invasion Run That Is So Cool

I should have posted this earlier. But as they say “its better late than never.”

The Zombie Invasion Run is part of the Halloween Party in our city dubbed as Fiesta Callejera or Street Party. This includes many other activities that were held in the last three days of October or before the All Saints Day and All Souls Day happen.

The program was held in one of the street in the heart of the city. Parties include the Zombekie wherein the gays hold a fashion show not to be the fairest and most beautiful of them all but the scariest and zombiest of them all. There there’s the Food Bazaar, March of Saints where the children dress as their favorite saints among others.

And one of them is the running event.

What I observed, lots of children participated in the Zombie Run—and take note, no one acted as childish but they really oblige themselves to become a zombie but putting lots of make up and props in their face (well, there is a rule that no zombie look means no permission to run). The children willingly undergo the make-up process and make their look like a zombie.

That includes my children.

More than half of the participants are children. There were two categories: 5 kilometers and 3 kilometers stretch. Most of the kids run in the 3K. The youngest is 3 years old. Imagine that a 3-year old kid will run, of course with the guidance of the parents.

The run started at 6:30PM. Just the right time because the darkness started to creep in the area. The route is just around the city but there is part that dark and dangerous for the runners. Still, the run is considered success. Anyway, this is the third year of the run.

My kid VJ runs fast that he outruns me. He was ahead more than 1 minute in the finish line than me. That was a good run.###
