You can be sucessful without a degree

Now a days most people can get a good job with decent pay unless they have a certain degree in that area. You need to study a lot to get the dream job you want and that has a salaray that can stabilize your life. Not all cases are like this. Some people are lucky enough to find people who believe in them and give them the job they want and help them grow even without a degree.

There is this one case here of a girl that works in a company and she is the only one without a degree yet is the one who get the highest salary.

She had no degree at all and she started up a company with a friend just as a secretary to help out. She is very dedicated to her job and learned alot while working there. She know more about her job than most people that work in the area and know how to explain everything extremely well to her clients.

A degree is only something that says you have finished school and nothing more. You need to show the ability to grow and learn. If you show that you are willing to learn and develop certain skills in your area then you will earn what you deserve and this case she deserves the salary she gets.

This is very rare here. Most people even with a degree or master still get minimum wage in most companies and hardly ever get a raise, this is something that demotivates a person to work. There is nothing to show for in his/her job.

There are still some companies that value hard work and experience over a school degree and this is good for those who didn’t have the chance or possibility to attend univerity. Especially because it is quite expensive if you don’t get financial help with the government.

    • A degree is only for the academic qualification. The subjects which the person has chosen will only aid him theory for the practical experience one has to work at a company related to the degree or subjects which he is pursuing. Once the college is over and you have a degree in your hand one has to go out and apply what he or she has learnt in the place where they have found a job and prove their mettle. Experience forms a very important of any individuals career and growth path. Social skills, interactive nature, inter personal skills, communication skills, public relations and applying the knowledge which one has got at the right place and at the right time all form an important part in increasing ones ability to get employed.

In our country there are many educated unemployed graduates and engineers as they are not upto the mark and are unable to apply the knowledge which they have learnt. Such education as what these people do by rote learning is of no use and results in waste of time and resources. The education system too is very academic oriented which does not help the purpose. Now there are interviews in the colleges from the second year itself. But only the best among the best make the cut leaving a big chunk of student who are average or below average ineligible for the kind of job for which they are studying degree. Education is a foundation on which the structure of other skills and experience mentioned above have to be build to make one a marketable commodity in the job market. Employers here ask if you have degree do you have experience and if someone is having experience he will be told you do not have a degree. All this is done to reduce costs for the company by cutting the salary which has to be paid. It is a sorry state of affairs.

      • The thing here is that when people lauch a job offer they always put the minimum someone needs to have of school. Graduate, vocational courses or even degrees. Not alot of people have these things but people can still learn. If someone is taught to do something and they have the ability to learn and expand in a company then why not give it a try.

Some people get colleague degrees and still have a hard time getting a job. You need to be hard working and not give up on what you want. Even without a degree if you go to a job interview but before do research on the job and see what you might have to do their and give a good presentation then they should at least recognize that you are trying to get the job and you are interested in learning what it takes to do so.

    • Most graduates or those who have a degree get employed in good jobs than those who does not have one; unless the manager gives more value to attitude and willingness to learn of a job applicant.

It is so nice if a poor young man or young woman who are intelligent enough but did not get a degree because they are poor, are given the opportunity to work in an office or in a good job. I do give more value to work attitude than to a diploma.

      • Yes, this should be valued, some people try their best to get into a job they think they could learn and don't have a chance because they don't have a certificate stating you went to school. School is a place where you learn but you never learn exactly what a certain company does and need to adapt.

I took a vocational course in accounting and you know what i came to work to a metal shop as an assistant but i go out to the shop and help them build fences, paint gates, fix garbage trucks. I am willing to learn. I am a girl working in a man's world and i love it. My boss know i like to learn these things.

I was lucky because there were 3 people chosen to stay with the position including an engineer and they chose me (i worked with them on a summer job) because they knew that i would be stuck to the desk and would want to go out and help. I try my best to help out with anything i can and learn what i can.
