WHY WE CRY??? IS THIS GOOD FOR US???

“Let you tears come. Let them water your soul.” by Eileen Mayhew… the memorable saying. But now question arises WHY WE CRY????

Crying is a natural emotional response to certain feelings. May be that feelings is of happiness or sadness. We may experience that from stress, pleasure, anger, sadness, sufferings to indeed, physical pain etc. We all noticed when we feel extremely happy our tears come out. Sometimes we cry when we feel fear… fear to be separated from friends , relatives, loving one, jobs…

WHAT IS TEARS: Scientifically tears is a healthy fluid for our eyes contains water, lipids, mucin, lysozyme, lactoferrin, lactritin, lipocalin, immunoglobulines, glucose, urea, sodium & potassium.

WHY DO WOMEN CRY MORE THAN MEN: Research says that women have 60% more prolactin, which is a reproductive hormone. Emotional tears is high in prolactin, which is the reason why women cry more than men.

DO ANIMALS CRY???? It’s a question obvious! Science says producing tears is common in many animals including dog, cat, elephant, cow, monkey etc. Charles Darwin said in 1982 page-turner ‘The expression of the emotions in man & animals’ , , he wrote about a sad elephant he had been observing…..”when overpowered and made fast, his grief was most affecting; his violence sank to utter prostration, and he lay on the ground, uttering choking cries, with tears trickling down his cheeks.”

We all know the real  heart touching story of baby ‘Zhuang Zhuang’ , who was rejected by his mother. He cried for 5 hours without stopping!!!! There are many examples of animal’s crying in world.

BENEFITS OF CRYING: According to Frey’s research, 85% of women & 73% of men felt less sad & angry after of their crying. It is very beneficial to have a cry: 1. IT RELIEVES STRESS , 2. LOWERS BLOOD PRESSURE, 3. REDUCES MANGANESE. It’s a NATURAL PAIN KILLER.

Here are some of my SUGGESTIONS for you….

  1. Whenever you heart is over flowed emotionally, must cry. A good cry can remove all of your pain.
  2. Never set a time limit. Cry till your heart says “enough”.
  3. Cry not just for others … cry for yourself.
  4. Whenever & wherever you feel great emotional, when you need to cry, never think…. just cry!!!!
  5. A great saying… “There are people who laugh to show their fine teeth; and there are those who cry to show their good hearts.’……by Joseph Roux.

Always your friend…. Barnali

    • Crying is one way of venting out a bottled emotion. It helps the person express his sad feeling and would be able to avoid having a heart atack if one cannot express his sadness.

I cry, whenever I have a problem, as I arrive the house from the office. I pray and while praying tears would be rolling down my cheeks. After praying I would still cry and cry.

After I have cried , I already feel lighter and be able to know what to do with my problem, since I prayed for enlightenment too.

    • Crying has lot of benefit when we are crying for the right reasons. This way it can be definitely good if this is helping overcome some trauma.

    • People often feel better after a good cry so it is an important way of releasing emotion. People who don't cry much are often very wound up inside, I have found.

    • Cry is a good way to feel relief. We try not to cry in front of people or not allowed to cry, which will harm our health. I don't think it's good for us.
As mentioned by @Dina,crying can make us feel lighter and know what to do after crying. I agree with this.

    • I never knew crying was so important to the human body. This article is really helpful for anyone that has questions like "Do animals cry?"

    • I cry because people always make things so difficult for me. I hurt a lot my emotional state always take a toll because of things that take place in my life. But I should try not to let things get to me but they do at the end of the day so I cry to not think about it as much.

    • I have discovered that I used to shed some tears anytime I laugh so well.
Though I laugh a lot, but I can't just resist crying, no matter how much I try.

Another thing that makes me cry is depression, once I'm so depressed, I begin to shed tears, once I'm done crying I'm always relieved.

I don't really cry when someone dies, but seeing other people crying makes me cry too.

It only happened to me once when I watched a movie that I cried so well that day, never expected it, but I cried over a movie. Isn't that interesting?

I will conclude by saying, crying is good, that it is too much, because too much of everything is bad.

    • We all cried when we were babies. But now that we're adults, many of us often try to hold back our tears in the belief that crying -- particularly at work or in public -- is seen as a sign of weakness, or as something to be ashamed of. But is it? Or is the act of shedding tears actually healthy?

Having a good cry can sometimes be just what the doctor ordered. In fact, some psychologists even suggest that we may be doing ourselves a disservice by not tearing up regularly.

"Crying activates the body in a healthy way," says Stephen Sideroff, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist at UCLA and director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Ethics. "Letting down one's guard and one's defenses and [crying] is a very positive, healthy thing. The same thing happens when you watch a movie and it touches you and you cry... That process of opening into yourself... it's like a lock and key."
