You can find that facebook is getting popular everyday. And they hold the largest personal data bank. They know patterns of many people. They are literally reading what people are posting. And then giving this data to advertisers. And based on that they make money. You can see that many people who are using facebook are realizing the fact that facebook controls their life. And they are giving it to many people. So in this chaps, there is a social network script that allows you to create your own facebook and host it privately. This way they are reaching more people and also limiting the the way they are doing things. I want to show you why there is a need for another social network like diaspora. And what are some of the things that you can do with it as you spend money.

Open Source

You can’t edit the source code of facebook. You can’t have your own server with facebook. That can be changed with the diasppora. It allows you to have your own server. You can easily decide to run it with limited number of people. You can also limit the federation in such case. This way you have more control over the social network. Many colleges can use the diaspora easily. So you can see that open source social networks can be easily used in college, office etc. And they can develop a lot of your business. You have to just learn how to manage the goal for your social network and things can be easily taken care of.

Distributed

You can easily import and export data from one network to another. For example friendica and diaspora can communicate well. And this means you are losing any friends if they change network. So this type of protoctol can be good. You can reach more people and not lose the friends. In case of facebook, twitter and few others, you’d however will have some issues in the process. And that’s something needs to be changed. So if you are into distributed network, make sure you’re doing federation options for your server. And with enough content it can reach more people.

No Spying

Facebook is known for it’s privacy issues. And they do spy on your choices of food and other things. So you can see that it is better to use social network which does not do things such as this. And in due process you’d need to go on much better way. So make sure that there is no spying issues. And in due time you understand that using diaspora, you control a lot of privacy in your own server. You can also make entire server access limited to some people. This way you don’t have to worry about who is doing all the issues around. And you can decide whether to contribute or not in due process.

That being said, you have to understand that facebook has it’s share of issues which can’t be solved as it’s private company. So one has to understand that part.
