Cultivators are Builders
As a motivation to start a class discussion, the teacher pointed the colorful flower outside their room and asked, “What made those beautiful flowers grow?” the pupils responded different answers, one said, “By giving fertilizer”, another may say, “By removing its weeds”, and some said, “By watering it. The teacher was pleased to the pupil’s answers, but another pupil stood and shouted, “Cultivators does, because he gives them all.”
The youngsters are all correct, in order for a plant to grow, it need fertilizers and other elements but most especially, it needs cultivators who will take good care of them.
This is true in learning. For the learners to fulfill their dreams and be as colorful as they can be, they need cultivators (the teachers together with the parents) who would mold them. Without cultivators, learning would be impeding.
Therefore, I salute cultivators who are pushing every learner beyond limits, who directs the student’s paths by developing their skills and abilities and by encouraging them to show the potentials they have. Cultivators of learner’s molds like a bookworm, but build the self-esteem by inspiring their learners to join organizations and/or any extracurricular activities in school.
Unfortunately, in some cases, cultivators mostly show more importance to those students who are fast learners than to those who are slow ones. In addition, they often hurt the feelings of slow learners by showing the things they could not do and the things they are not good at. It should not be like that, right? Cultivators must have a fair and equal treatment to everyone. He or she must understand each learner and give considerations to everyone. I have met many students who shine during their college days even if they are not known in their primary or secondary education. The slow ones if cultivated well could sprout like the better one.
Cultivators also do not want to hear bad comments about them. Yes, nobody is perfect as we always say, but then, a cultivator must hear what their learners must say about them.
During my school days, most teachers often say that if learners have a problem with them, they go directly to the teacher and say it. So, a learner will go to the teacher and say his or her concern, what would you think might happen after it? Surely, the learner would be criticized and would hear bad words such as he, she is disrespectful to teachers, or he or she has no moral and all you may think they could say.
One also a cultivator of a learner must do is not to carry in the school those personal burdens they have in life. They must not carry their problems while cultivating because it will affect their work. For example, in a working area, a cultivator might blame their seedlings why they had a low profit and taking it as a reason to work lazily and so a reason for the seed to back out which is same as true with students. We often observe that a learner will drop his or her subject because he or she is not learning any more from her teacher.
Always remember that true cultivators role is to care, love, nurture, and protect their plants in order for it to bear good flowers and fruits. Furthermore, a cultivator who brings out the best out of his learners is truly a cultivator.
