SIMPLE PRINCIPLES FOR STUDENTS TO REACH THEIR GOALS

Being an individual and a part of the community I am living, I observed that secondary students are adhering to misleading principles, which adversely affect their academic performance and the way they view their life.

As I talked to some students I know in our place, most of them wrongly believe that these principles or ideas will help them in their journey towards education and growth. As a result, they incur failing grades in their academic subjects in school.

I think it is important to discuss the principles, which leads students towards their journey to education and growth as hopes of the nation.

• MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. If you are a student whose purpose is to learn and finish your education, focus on it. Do not venture into other businesses like loitering around the city during school days with your friends almost every day, joining with your peers for a drinking session, and smoking cigarettes. These are none of your business as a student. The moment these are mixed with your business, you will be out of focus.
• MANAGE YOUR TIME, DON’T LET TIME MANAGE YOU. A successful person finds time management vital to success. Distribute your time among your daily chores. Always prioritize your studies and find time to do your entire task.
• MORE TIME FOR STUDIES, LESS TIME FOR FRIENDS. This is closely related to the second principle. Students find enjoyment with their peers than with their studies. This is the reason why they devote more time with their friends. As a result, studies will be neglected.
• CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS. It’s not bad to have a friend because, at many times, you needed them but you have to choose those who can help you with your studies and not those who destruct you. There are only two colors of friends: the bad and the good one. Friends may either break or develop you depending on their color, so one must be careful.
• JOIN MANDATED SCHOOL ORGANIZATION. The four walls of the classroom do not provide all the knowledge you need to learn. A student can learn many things outside the classroom through school organizations that help in cultivating their latent talents and skills. Aside from this, students will now enjoy going to school because of the activities undergoing within the organizations they are in.
• IT IS HARDER TO BREAK HABITS THAN TO FORM THEM. One can easily form a bad habit, but cannot easily break it. For the students, don’t try to form any bad habit within yourselves because you cannot fight it easily when you realize your actions are not appropriate or not good.

These simple principles are easy to execute. These are helpful principles towards the success of a student in his or her journey to education.
