My Review of my New Company

Since I was not doing anything on my first and second day at work, I composed a blog about a review of my new company. It is too early to judge the company and everything on my review is based only on the orientation. I will able to learn its true color when I stayed there for long, but I always keep in mind that there is no perfect company. Every company has its flaws because people working in there are not even perfect. One should learn to adjust and accepts that they need to be professional and do the job responsibilities in order to earn money.

The Good

My new company has a state of the art facility. I was having culture shock when I saw the tables and chairs. I love it but it is new to me. I used to be sitting in my own cubicle, but the environment there is open. I have two big desktop and I need to check each of each. This was done to validate your job, to able to double check it and for sure for the boss to see what you are doing.

HR personnel are professional and friendly. I love the way they treat us on our first day. They make us feel we need to know everything all in a day. Some might find it exhausting but I appreciate that kind as I was taking notes and I have this kind of attitude that I need to have a lot of information in a day. Even on the second day, they provided us information that they failed to gave to us on the first day. It keeps me aware of what is the story of my new company and what we expect from our employer. It makes me prepared to be an employee they employer wants to have, but anyway it takes time to prove it.

It says it has a good benefits. From the information on the orientation I learned about the benefits and I consider it good. From the benefits they shared, it makes me realized I have a good future on that company. It gives growth and it says it is fast. However, those benefits and growth should depends on the employees performance in the first place. I need to give my 111 best before anything else.

The environment shows a busy but professional feeling. The HR never lie in telling us that the environment is fast paced but the managers and the employee that will train us can able to provide a steady help and guidance while we are still learning about the job. I saw it on the first day and I am liking what I was seeing.

They provide AWA or After Work Activity. The After Work Activity provides camaraderie to employees and health related as well. I dream to attend Zumba class because I love dancing as well as losing weight. Zumba is perfect for me and they have it. However, I thought they are doing it during Friday but it is not. It is done in the middle of the week days. I still appreciate it because I just need to adjust with it but I am prepared to do that activity.

They provide Shuttle service. Even though I haven’t tried the Shuttle service because they are leaving the office at 7 in the evening, I still find it good that my company has a shuttle service. It is good during rainy days because I don’t have to suffer to wait for the arrivals of public vehicles. It is hard to wait for PUV on my workplace and shuttle is the other option to save your time, effort and money.

The Locker. Employees are not allowed to enter their bags and things inside the office. Bags and other valuables are inside the locker room. When you enter the office, you only have yourself, your jacket or water tumbler, no cellphone is allowed.

Orientation process is good and well appreciated. They provided different schedule of orientation to different departments. Employee could able to learn the different job responsibilities from different departments. In this way, they will able to understand the flow of work and each responsibilities.

The Not so Good, but it really depends on the employee

The management is strict. I understand that they need to provide rules in everything as they want orderliness. I am a rule abiding employee ever since and I am very willing to follow the rules. Being an employee, the boss is always right so you can never do anything about it. However, sometimes the rules really hurt you, but again, you can’t anything about it because, the boss is always right.

No cellphone is allowed. I find it hard when I don’t have my cellphone with me because I need to check what is happening at home from time to time. It is not good to me on that situation but I understand if the employer will be strict on this area. The employer wants their employees to focus on their task and responsibilities. There are cellphones with different networks that is left in the office that everyone could use when they need to contact clients. It is only for clients and suppliers.

Too far from home. Imagine me spending more than 2 hours on the road before I able to get home after work. These includes waiting for the PUV to arrive and the traffic. It leads me to exhaustion. I have no time to work online because of the amount of time I spend in travelling getting to work and going home. It is not friendly to me. I feel sick every time I went home. However, I know there will come a time that I will able to adjust from the experience as every struggles have benefits. In the first place, I know I will able to surpass it as this is what I really want is to earn and save money. All I need is to adjust and make it quick.

Every day, I am learning more about the company. I cannot divulge it in here, though. I totally understand it and I am okay with it, though I have to admit, it is still not good to me.

Again, there is no perfect company as there is not perfect people. In order to grow professionally, one must work hard for it and prove to your boss that you deserve to have it.

    • Many companies here do not allow people to use cellphones too.
I think the whole pharmaceutical industry and defense industry have this rule.
It is not unique to your company.
