Reasons Why Millions Wear Eyeglasses

There are so many people this time, anywhere in the world wear eyeglasses. Others wear for nearsightedness, others  farsightedness. Millions use reading glasses. What are the reasons behind why many including myself wear eye glasses? I started wearing eye wear during college. I cannot forget that time; I do not like to eat green, leafy and yellow vegetables. I like to eat al the time meat from chicken and beef. I also like to eat fish until this time; I am a fish and beef lover. After few years, I realized I need eyeglasses. My eyes easily got tired and my head ached. Our family doctor advised me to eat carrots; moringa, squash, celery, cauliflower, spinach and broccoli for these veggies contain minerals good for the vision. This time, after eating these vegetables, my eyesight progressed and I only wear eyeglasses when I do some activities in computer and in reading books and magazines.

Those million wearing eyeglasses do not include yet those numbers with other eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma and mascular degeneration. Generation after generation, our vision is getting worse. Experts believe that overuse of computers, working, reading is the primary reasons of eye defects, but they tried to go deeper to get the idea why many wear eye glasses. Then, finally, they come with the answer: Our modern diet. Just imagine our primal ancestors, they had perfect vision, but when hunter gatherers started eating a western diet, the rates of myopia go from almost nil to sky high in just a single generation.

The foods you eat are sometime culprits to your health. This time too many young and old wear eyeglasses. Many children this time are sick of nearsightedness .LOL. The other reason why kids have this sickness is processed foods. My friend’s kids ages 5 and 6 already menstruating, and abnormal of course and the cause is, they always have during meal processed food called hotdog. This is so bad food for children. Never allow your kids to eat processed foods.

These are the following recommendations by doctors to keep our eyes healthy:

  1. Eat like our ancestors, no meat. You have to get most of your calories from fat and protein foods like olive oil , butter and coconut oil. They also advised to eat only low carbohydrates food to avoid getting sick of diabetes.
  2. Get enough dark, leafy greens. We all have some knowledge about green veggies like kale, collards, turnip greens, spinach, Swiss chard and Brussels sprouts. They are high in lutein and zeaxanthin. You can also have oranges, peppers, zucchini, squash and kiwi fruit.
  3. L-Taurine. This is an amino acid that strengthens the cells of your retina and protects your lenses from drying out
  4. Bilberry Extract. This super berry helps treat cataracts and retina problems. They are powerful antioxidants.
  5. Ginkgo biloba. This is an herb that boosts healthy blood circulation to your eyes and reduces inflammation that can be caused by high blood sugar levels.

Let us ponder for awhile and try to repair your damaged eyes through the foods recommended by doctors and experts to have a better life.

    • Have you ever seen this "eye chart" before? It is smaller than the real version of the chart that is used to test how well you can see. It was first developed in 1863. If you have 20/20 vision, it means that at a distance of 20 feet, you can read a certain line (labeled 20) on the chart and that your vision is normal. If you can only see the top line clearly (the one labeled 200), then you have 20/200 vision. This means that you must be 20 feet from the chart to see what most people can see at 200 feet. By the way, if someone's vision is 20/200 or less in their better eye with use of the best eyeglass lens to correct their eyesight, then they are legally blind.

People wear glasses for several reasons. People who have "fuzzy" vision when they look at distant objects are called nearsighted (myopic). In these people, the image is focused in front of the retina. The lens of glasses needed to correct vision in nearsighted people is concave. People who need glasses for reading and who have "fuzzy" vision for objects close to them are called farsighted (hyperopia). In farsighted people, objects are focused behind the retina. The lens of glasses needed to correct vision in farsighted people is convex. Astigmatism is another reason that you might have to wear glasses.
