Predictions Made by Nostradamus Which Have Come True

He was born Michel de Nostredame in  1503.  He was one of at nine children.  His family had been Jewish but his grandfather converted  to Catholicism due the prejudice of the day and changed the name to Nostradamus, more ‘Latinised’.

At about fifteen he entered University but the outbreak of plague ended his matriculation after a year.

He became an ‘apothecary’, which in those days is like a ‘bush doctor’ today.  He used a lot of herbal remedies which, then, as now were shunned by the ‘scientific’ community.

He tried to reapply to university to study medicine but having been a ‘bush doctor’ was tossed out.

He traveled the countryside, married, had children, and began recording his prophecies, first in a yearly almanac.

In those days almanacs were very popular; giving dates, moon phases, weather predictions, and other bits of information.

His first book of predictions was published in 1555.

How he saw the future has been a cauldron of debate; some claiming he wrote so generally that it could be ‘anything’, others amazed by the accuracy of his words.

Some say he ‘copied’ other predictions from various sources, including the Bible.

These are two of his predictions:

“From the enslaved people, songs, chants and demands,
The princes and lords are held captive in prisons:
In the future by such headless idiots
These will be taken as divine utterances.”

“Before the war comes,
The great wall will fall,
The King will be executed, his death coming too soon will be lamented.
(The guards) will swim in blood,
Near the River Seine the soil will be bloodied.”

That prediction concerns the French Revolution, (1789 -1799) which happened many years after he died.

Another prediction which came true concerns the Great Fire of London (1666)

“The blood of the just will be demanded of London,
Burnt by the fire in the year 66″

“The blood of the just will commit a fault at London,
burnt through lighting of twenty threes the six:
The ancient lady will fall from her high place,
several of the same sect will be killed.”

There was a Great Fire in  London in 1666.   It is estimated that it destroyed the homes of 70,000 of the City’s 80,000 inhabitants and many churches.

Many of his predictions have been interpreted to foresee World War II, the Destruction of the World Trade Centre, and other events.

Some seem pretty clear, others open to interpretation.

    • Yes, you say right but the year you write is true. keep in mind the accurate prediction of the Fire of London was William Lilly who predicted the Fire of London in 1666 when the bad fixed star will cross the ascendant of London and according to natural law fire will break out in the city. According to William Lilly prediction fire broke at 2 September 1666.

And it had It had destroyed 13,200 houses, 87 parish churches, 6 chapels, 44 Company Halls, the Royal Exchange, the Custom House, St Paul's Cathedral, the Guildhall, the Bride well and other City prisons, the Session House, four bridges across the Thames and Fleet rivers, three city gates and made homeless 100,000 people, one sixth of the inhabitants.

After this Lily was called in the King's Court to investigate how he predicted the year of destruction. He was charged of detective but Lily said thus:

When asked if he had foreseen in which year the fire would break out, Lilly said

"I did not, or was desirous. Of that I made no scrutiny".

The Committee appeared to have been satisfied with his explanation and much to his relief, was thanked for his evidence, then dismissed.

But had Lilly been completely honest with them? A close inspection of the hieroglyphic in question reveals that he was not.

See Lilly' hieroglyph of the fire

The exact date of the worst disaster that had ever befallen London and the time, within a few hours, were secreted within the drawing ... and he knew it!

See Lilly's horoscope for the Great Fire of London

He also knew that he could not publish nineteen drawings without some form of explanation, nor could he resist teasing his public and especially his fellow astrologers with his secret knowledge.

"Had the curtesie of the present times deserved it at my hands, thou hadst seene an Explanation of the sixteen Pages following, which in Aenigmaticall Types, Forms, Figures, Shapes, doth perfectly represent the future condition of the ENGLISH Nation and Commonwealth for many hundreds of years yet to come. I have borrowed so much time from my morning sleepe, as hath brought forth these Conceptions. You that read these Lines must know I doe no new thing, I doe herein but imitate the ANTIENTS, who so often as they resolved to concele their intentions from prophane hands, used HEIROGLIPHICKS, IMAGES, &C. The AEGYPTIAN PRIESTS were herein excellant, and their judgement commendable; our Savour also himself commandeth; NE DETUR SACRUM CANIBUS. If Providence shall hereafter assigne me a quiet life, and prolong my years, I may then perhaps leave unto the Sons of Art the several Changes of every Kingdome and Commonwealth in EUROPE, in such CARACTERS as these which now follow".

      • How can Lily predict the Fire in 1666 when everyone knows Nostradamus mentioned it over 100 years before?
