Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni appreciated the pitch preparation ahead of the first Test match at Eden Gardens when he was in the city for a commercial shoot with another world cup winning captain Kapil Dev.

Dhoni was spotted having a chat a with the pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee while checking the pitch that will host the first Test scheduled to start from November 16.

Dhoni and Kapil were seen spending the day bowling and batting as the hosts joined them. First, it was Kapil’s turn to roll over his arms to Dhoni and as the shoot went on as they reversed their role. It was an advertisement of 33 seconds, directed by a renowned Bengali director Arindam Sil.

Sil, who has done a lot of acting and directing, said that this was a lifetime experience for him. Sil felt that he is lucky enough to direct his debut advertisement with these legendary names.

“It’s the Mecca of Cricket and I had two World Cup-winning captains shooting for me. It’s the most memorable day in my life. They were the best of the captains. I felt nostalgic. I have watched them play from the same galleries here but to shoot with them now at the same venue is a lifetime experience,” Sil told reporters after the shoot.

Dhoni was also seen talking with the kids about the game in between his busy schedule. Terming the two world cup winning captain Dhoni, a natural actor, Sil stated:

“I didn’t require a retake from Dhoni; he was natural in front of the camera.”

Arindam Sil also expressed his gratitude towards the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Sourav Ganguly for letting him shoot at Eden Gardens. Both the captains were joined in by Sourav Ganguly at the end of the shoot where they were seen talking to each other. The final part of the shoot is scheduled to take place in a studio before Dhoni takes off for Dubai where he will inaugurate the MS Dhoni Cricket Academy on November 11.
