The Mesmirising Formation of Clouds

Clouds can provide photographers great opportunities to capture them in different avatars. The cloud formations are given names and meanings. There is a whole lot of information on the formation of clouds and their meanings available on the Net and what we read is indeed fascinating.

Here is an extract of what I gathered from the net.

• “The highest clouds in the atmosphere are cirrocumulus, cirrus, and cirrostratus. Cumulonimbusclouds can also grow to be very high.
• Mid-level clouds include altocumulusand altostratus.
• The lowest clouds in the atmosphere are stratus, cumulus, and stratocumulus.”

Going by the information provided in this link the image of the cloud  that I managed to capture could be included in the category of Altocumulus and altostratus.

I shall from now on pay more attention to the clouds that present themselves right where I live and capture them in my camera and even try to understand their position.

Then there is the question of Pareidolia a situation where one imagines images which in fact do not actually exist.

In the image above there is the cloud that has the formation of a bear. This phenomena exists in every walk of life. We see formations in rocks, trees, and such. We see faces of animals, faces of the dead and even celebrities. They actually do not exist but are just in the minds of the one who looks at those objects. Clouds get the first place when it comes to Pareidolia.

Some photographers spend their entire life going in search of such formations and  have loadful of such images captured in their camera.

This is my first attempt  trying to take photos of clouds but shall take more interest and watch the clouds. May be I could also be addicted to Pareidolia

The sunrise and sunset have a lot to do with how clouds form.  We get to see a lot of colour especially when the sun is about to set. The best formations  white in colour are around noon and sometimes early in the morning.
