Meditation often is merged with tales and legends in our consciousness; it is like any mystical ritual. But in fact it is quite the opposite – it is a simple process. Its quintessential element is concentration on what you are doing; experience the emotions that you survive right now, just being with yourself.
It should be separated out a few key aspects of awareness meditation. First – focus, directed to a particular detail, for example, to a respiratory rate, or to mantra.
The second – the presence of the here and now. The self-observation and feeling, environmental monitoring and feeling. This part is particularly important because, sometimes we live perhaps lifetime planning for the future and grieving for the past, and so miss a large part of the life’s beauty.
This is no any special practice – meditation is simply mind-consciousness training to experience the present moment, draw off the thoughts that try to distract our attention from this moment to the side, and to be open and alert in respect of this moment. Although to practice mindfulness meditation requires no special features, it is a popular in Easterners religions, such as Buddhism. But no matter what religion or where you live, the most important is the desire to be attentive.
You can meditate in any posture: while sitting, lying down or while standing. Even more – while walking. In this case, walk by circles or forward and back – monotony is needed to make it easier to focus on the process rather than to some specific goal, where one would like to go. The place is also not as important as concentration and determination.
There is no right or wrong way of meditation. You should meditate because of the process itself. A pragmatic practice distorts the purpose of meditation. Conscious meditation can be the reason for the gratitude expression, the reason for the spark of joy to shine in this polished everyday life. In addition, the more we’re involved in activity the more fun to perform it, to stay in it. I wish you enough determination and will to observe the color of the moment.

I don't know so much about meditation; all I know is that if one is in deep thought, then he can clear his mind, he is relaxed and can think better.
