Marry A Wise Person and You Will Live Longer

This was an advice of a doctor I heard over the radio some years ago.He said if you marry an intelligent or educated man or woman, you will have a happier and longer life.

If a wife knows so much about staying healthy, she will prepare food that is good for her husband. If the husband has high blood pressure, she will research on what foods are allowed to be eaten and what should be avoided.

Then she will prepare a lot of fruits and vegetables. Vegetables like okra or lady finger, moringa or horse radish, broccoli, radish, tomatoes, water parsley, and other leafy vegetables which has a lot of fiber and nutrients.

She knows what fibrous foods should go into the diet. It is said that fats tend to cling to the fibers then it will be flushed out of the intestines, and one can have a regular waste disposal. This can lead to a healthy digestive system which can prevent the onset of digestive difficulties or other related diseases.

For drinks, an intelligent woman can always offer nutritious drink to her husband and and her children. First thing in the morning before drinking coffee or any morning beverage, she can give him lemon water or water with 10 calamansi fruits squeezed on it. It is preferable to use lukewarm water for more absorption by the intestines. He can drink another glass or half glass of water to wash away the acidic taste.

They say this practice is good in cleansing the system, or the body from unwanted or toxic substances that cause certain diseases.

If you do not have lemons or calamansi, drinking warm water first thing in the morning is a healthy practice.

For the main dish, a wise woman will always have fish or chicken in the diet. The chicken skin should be removed because it has many fats. There are also certain kinds of fish that should not always be eaten because of too much uric acid in it which causes rheumatism or gout. Pork or other red meat should also be avoided.

Sweets should be avoided, and starchy foods like bread or rice should be taken in moderation. One could eat whole wheat bread, brown or red rice as an alternative because it has more fiber in it and has higher glycemic index than white bread or white rice.

A smart woman will always think what is best for her sick husband. This is if she loves the man so much. If she does not have so much time because she might also be busy in her work or job, she can instruct people at home or whoever is assigned to do the cooking.

Aside from healthy foods, the atmosphere at home should not be stressful. Just ignore little problems that come up, do not nag the husband or the children for little mistakes. Just let it pass or stress your point so clearly and in a mild way to prevent a toxic situation at home.

If you married a smart woman, then you found a gem, and your life will be happy and you will live longer.
