Hello Everyone!
“The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from it.”
-Freiderich Hegel
We all have gone through history many times. Yet, we just read it for recreational purpose totally ignoring the hidden messages. No, I am not talking about bloody wars we humans faced. That is a bitter truth. I am talking of the root cause – what the world actually was and still is.
I am talking about a time perhaps when humans did not exist – the Jurassic Era. The Earth was ruled by mighty creatures which everyone called Dinosaurs. These creatures no more existed.
Charles Darwin brought the rule – Survival of the fittest. It is debated who this “fittest” is.
In the very beginning, I talked of Jurassic world. Dinosaurs are perhaps the strongest land creatures including (but not limited to) Stegosaurus, Triceratops and yes, Tyrannosaurus Rex. These were the fiercest creatures, strong enough to break mountains. Yet, they are just buried and modern day crude / oil / petroleum are considered their fossils. Dinosaurs are not the survivors.
Infact, strength proves fatal in the long run. That’s what happened – Dinosaurs kept on fighting with each other. They were so deadly that one Dinosaur fed on another (often literally).
It is better to ignore strength but it does not imply that wisest will survive.
It should be noted that too much intelligence is attribute of the foolish. Humans are definitely the wisest of all beings. Scientifically, we humans have the most developed brain. We know how to control fire; we can stop any hurdle and have developed mass destructive weapons.
While it is true that we were not created the strongest BUT we made ourselves strong enough to control the world.
Yet, there seems no difference between humans today and Dinosaurs back during prehistoric era. In fact, we are even worse. Dinosaurs killed only when needed. Humans did genocide and promoted holocaust when the problem could have been solved otherwise. This is the primary reason why civilizations had fallen.
We did not take any benefit from our intelligence but rather misused it.
Charles Darwin made a guess that strongest and wisest don’t survive but those who respond properly to change will. However, he did not clarify what type of response makes you fit for survival.
Secondly, take a look at the Eagle. There is no change management Guru better than the Eagle. Youtube is full of videos discussing change management lessons from Eagle. Yet, their generation is decreasing fast. So, something is lacking there.
If we carefully look at history, we realize that there is something special which is required to win. Probably, humans have always enjoyed Jurassic movies. Yet, we too repeated the mistake Dinosaurs did. Hopefully, we learn from history now.

Hegel's quote is spot on. Generally speaking, we learn history but we don't learn the lessons from history. :)
