Exercise Tips: 7 Exercise Myths Debunk

Exercise is a healthy way to keep your body fit and strong.

 

However, there are numerous of workout myths that had driven people to avoid exercising in order to keep themselves save and sound.

 

Here are 7 workout myths debunked that you should know:

#1- Exercise increases my risk of injury

 

  • Exercise does not induce any injuries to your body IF you take good precaution steps in advance.
  • Always wear suitable shoes, clothes and take note of which part of your body that is aching or hurt.
  • If you have aching knees, do not exercise vigorously on your lower abdominal body especially the knees.
  • Focus on other limbs that are fit and strong such as your arms or waistline.
  • Stretching prevents further injuries because it help your body to warm up and loosen the muscles before you start exercising.

 

 

#2- Exercise on specific parts of body

  • Exercise should include all the part of the body, arms, waist, legs, not just a specific parts of the body.
  • If you focus on one part of your body, you would develop an imbalance body muscles.
  • Exercise such as jogging involves your legs, waistline, arms and your buttocks. Hence, you are burning more calories and fats for those cellulite body parts.
  • In addition, your body blood flow to your heart improves.

 

 

#3- Exercise shrink my breast

  • Normal exercise such as jogging, sports exercise and swimming do not shrink your breast.
  • Maybe vigorous exercise such as building up muscles ( weight lifting, chest exercise might reduce the fats in your breast to make your breast appear smaller because your muscles started to show in your arms, shoulders and abs.

 

 

#4- Skipping makes my breast saggy

  • This is one of the popular myth that ladies refused to use the skipping rope.
  • Saggy breast! Jumping or skipping does not reduce the size of a woman’s breast.
  • On the contrary, skipping helps to enhance the pectoral muscles, helps to push the fats to your breast, making them looked bigger and rounder.

 

 

#5- Exercise bad for my joints

  • Old folks believed in myths that exercise would worsen the pain in the joints due to old wive tales
  • Educate your older parents that light walking or stretching the legs would enhance faster recovery because the muscles at the joints are mobile.
  • Start with 10min walking around the neighborhood or bring them to the shopping mall for a window shopping.

 

 

#6- Too old to exercise

 

  • It is never too old to exercise. Only those folks who are lazy to lift up their bums from the comfy sofa would find tons of excuses to escape exercise regime.
  • Light exercise such as Yoga, Tai qi and brisk walking are common exercise methods that old people prefer to do when they are old.
  • Since their muscles are weak and could not walk longer with joints pain, light exercise help them to feel healthier and happier.
  • Even wheel chair bounded old people would rather perform upper abdomen exercise in the morning to keep themselves fit and strong.

#7- Too tired to workout

  • Another common excuse for adult working people who are lazy to workout after a day work.
  • You don’t have to exercise EVERYDAY. Schedule your time for the weekends or Public Holiday to workout at least 20min-30min per workout.
  • Working out benefits your heart and to tone up your muscles.
  • Long term sedentary lifestyle isn’t healthy. It will create constipation, indigestion, heartburn and overweight problems.

    • These are all the wrong notion about doing exercises. We need to do some exercises to keep fit. It is the conventional way. I had been practicing my profession as Physiotherapist. The principle of Therapeutic Exercises to most of my patients and be educated the beneficial effects of doing it.

    • About this exercise and fitness matter, I have one Question: Is it possible for a mother who just give birth to do any exercise? Or when does a mother do any exercises after giving birth?

      As observe to many mother who give birth in our community, the elders always told to them not to do any chores at home or do any exercise or even walking in a long distance. Why is that so?
