Some women are crazy about feminism. Or maybe it’s just a simple desire for freedom? In one conference, in which I have been involved, was given a question why in these days some women do not want to get married and to have children. Doctor psychotherapist said that after centuries of slavery, some women decided to get free and the need for freedom makes them behave not according to public standards. It is difficult to keep the freedom and not to become a man and a child’s slave in the family. Some women live in the family and try to stay free inside and not to be hostages of fate. Other women choose to be free – they avoid to marry, do not want children, they behave as they wish.
So, who are the last ones? The feminists? Feminists, crying: We want to be free; we do not want to commit to the man, child. We want to create. To create art, music, jewelry, clothes, paintings, delicious dishes, interesting articles, write books, travel the world. In the evenings, we want to sit in the coziest cafes of the world and discuss women’s rights, ecology, vegetarianism, actors and politicians. Sometimes to meet in circle of best friends, to drink together wine and to laugh, to tell all sorts of stories, to sing funny songs, and in the morning get up very happy.
We want to be free and to seek education. We want the same level of pay as men. We want to take the state-wide solutions. We want to solve our own destinies. We do not want to be slaves of men and fate. We want to forget centuries of slavery. When every day was the same: the kitchen, the animals, the plenty of children. When it was not possible to talk about feelings. When we got married with strangers and lived with him for a lifetime. He could be raunchy, angry, aggressive, drinker, lascivious, but we did not have the right to leave him. And could not behave the way we want.
We want to forget the times when we were burned, when the enemies at war time could rape us, when we were perceived as a bargain. We want to forget the times when our body was a symbol of shame, when it was necessary to cover even feet. Forget men debate whether a woman has a soul.
After many years we finally feel free. We are the type of free women. Therefore, do not crawl to us with your speeches about the family, the heating family hearth, the child birth as a key of life meaning. We are free not to participate in these games. We are free, and after many centuries finally we can act like we want. We can refuse marriage, we can refuse to have children, and we can not to dream about such a family fireplace. We can act like we want. Because women slavery ended. And no one will force us go back to those times. We want to laugh, sing, dance, travel, love, feel sorrow, envy and sacrifice. But all that we do, because we want it ourselves. It’s dawned the era of free women.
Yes, the feminists could say it. Or something like that. There will always be a part of women – feminists. Or maybe freedom is an illusion that you can do what you want? Maybe the only change compared to somber past is that today’s society is prone to the money rather than to force.
The more you have the money in compare with others, the more free you feel free. This definition fits to the cafes, loved work, talks about ecology or vegetarianism and family problems.
I would dare to doubt that the only money begets a sense of freedom. In fact, it is stupid to marry a man just because he solves your financial problems. Free women are seeking for the financial independence; it also allows you to seek the feeling of freedom. Much egocentrism and even more money make any man free, but whether it is enough to become happy?
However, we recall and blame men for the oppression to which this generation was not involved. It is not good to blame our own parents, brothers, sons for this, because all this did the ancestry. The freedom is limited in the world of these days, because men and women have lost frames, are falling out of the picture, do not understand how they should behave and what the status to take in the society.
Good to be free. But once may come a time when you see that something is missing, that there is emptiness. I want to be free, but that would be next to a man. I believe that it is possible to do everything you want with your husband and children. Otherwise it will be not a meaningful life. Somehow all career achievements without children for me would be empty and like an attempt to plug the gaps in life. In fact, I do not condemn the feminist women. Each is free to choose what to do with his life.

There is no law that says you have to get married. At least not in America. If you don't want to get married, don't! If you want to get married, do! Has nothing to do with feminism or macho masculinity or gender inequality or property ownership. Marriage is about love. It's a shame that the world we live in has screwed up such a simple AND DIVINE concept and tangled it up with a bunch of unrelated nonsense! Humans make their own life so complicated.
