Europe through my eyes in a nutshell

We always opted for conducted tours and Europe was no exception.

The package tour we opted for included 7 countries in Europe -Switzerland,  UK, France, Italy, Germany, Holland and Belgium (not in that order).

For  those who would want to spend their time surrounded by snow clad mountains and wanting to ski away to glory, Switzerland wins hands down. Once one reaches Jungfrau – a part of the Alps – a picturesque sight beyond description –  one can find skiers there, enjoying their sport to their heart’s content.

Switzerland is known for its well maintained roads, with manicured sloped borders that have those tiny yellow flowers which only hide during snowfall.

There is more to Switzerland – the mouth watering chocolates that are exclusive to this beautiful country.

Paris in France has what it takes to be designated as a romantic place with exquisite perfumes – the world’s best.

Here one finds the best cuisine as well.

It is well known that the French love food with top quality wines which is their staple intake.

The Eiffel Tower that helps one to view the whole city especially in the night makes Paris a must see.

Italy

Italy has sights that are well worth spending time at.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa –  an architectural marvel -continues to surprise the viewers.

The Triveni Fountain in Rome where one never returns without making their 3 wishes – I made those wishes.

St. Peter’s Basilica is one among the few sights that could be considered as top in Europe.

Gondola ride in the canals of Venice which some call it the water city, where one travels by water buses from one place to another,  is an experience that can be considered unique,  giving it the distinction of being one of the top sights in Europe.

A visit to the glass factory where one can witness exquisite work of art made from Glass is an attraction one finds only in Venice.
UK

Who would want to miss the Madame Tussaud’s Museum once in London or may be even pose for one wax model of their own if one is famous enough or qualify for that privilege!!! I took a picture of me posing with one.

London is a place where one can find countless nooks such as a ride on River Thames or a visit to the Palace to watch the trooping the colour

Germany

The cuckoo clock factory where one can see the clocks being actually made, and wait to hear the chiming of the huge clock that is installed over a house that is shaped as a cuckoo clock, is sometimes the main reason why one goes there.. The best time would be to be there at 12 noon when the clock strikes twelve times along with the dancing dolls, a spectacle one can only see in Germany, also known as the Black Forest Cuckoo Clock. It is near the Black Forest, in the Bavarian village that this small factory is situated.

And once there, tasting the Black Forest Cake would be almost compulsory!

Holland

Garden lovers would aptly choose visiting Amsterdam at the time when Tulips grow. The sprawling fields filled with this wonderful flower is a specialty of Amsterdam. But we missed it just by a week

Amsterdam has several canals where one can take canal rides, which is also a way to have a clearer view of the city. Would it be out of place to mention that here is a place that is also famous for the sex trade, which is licensed and therefore one need not fear!! No. I did not go there

Belgium

Getting to Brussels from London using the EuroStar the under the English Channel train is by itself an experience.

The Belgium chocolates is a must when one visits that country.

You cannot but look at the statue – the  Manneken Pis – which  is a landmark. It is a small statue of a kid located at the junction of Rue de l’Étuve/Stoofstraat and Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat in Brussels.

There is much more but that,  later.
