I have read many books on democracy and its nature but I could not find its true definition according to Herodotus that he has roamed all over the world and found two things commons in all people one the concept of religion and the concept of democracy and both have no authentic definition due to peoples’ unique concepts.
In the real sense democracy is the art of ruling that men have found after making countless murders and bloodsheds all over the world and declare it the best form of ruling the people with their own choice. But in reality and practical world democracy has failed badly in all countries due to corrupt politicians.
The politicians of the whole world want to prolong their reign due to looting the country treasures natural and human, wealth and land, and they doing their jobs in all countries honestly and nobody speaks against them. Chief Justice and the Chief of Army Staff are also supporting them because they get their share from it and in democracy justice being sold all over the world. Those how loot country wealth and treasures how they can be out of jail but they remain rulers due to court support.
Democracy is the system of government which is selected by votes of the people. Before this, all the systems of government have failed. League of Nations failed in stopping war and also UNO has failed in stopping war. But Democracy is the latest modern civilized method of running the government according to the well and wished of the people.
The most important advantage of democracy is that people select their members to whom they like forgetting their character’s faults. In doing so people’s supper ego gets satisfaction and those selected members take the power of the whole country and use it according to their wills ignoring people’s will. People want something and they do something else.
In the real sense it is the government of people, for the people, by the people. Actually is the government of emotions, for the emotions, by the emotions. Democratic rulers follow their emotions to resolve the country problems. It is a very dangerous thing for the people and country.
The worst side effect of democracy is its counting method. Democracy counts heads: whether be one head of a donkey and one is head of an educated man. Both are equal in the eyes of democratic law. According to Prof. Joad, “In democracy, 51 vote-getter-parties is winner and 49 vote-getter parties are looser. If 49 vote getter party merges by tempting two members into his own party. Now the result is reverse. What a wonderful process of befooling the country people.”
So for as the future of democracy in Pakistan is concerned, keep in mind, there is no future of democracy in Pakistan because three types of law and orders are working in Pakistan: 1. Islamic Laws, 2. British Laws, 3 democratic laws. No one is functioning well and none of them is in its original shape due to its shadow laws. It is a serious joke with Pakistan and Pakistanis.
That is why unemployment, black marketing, looting and bribery are common. After passing 63 years Pakistan is the same as before. Other countries of the same independence have got progress a lot. It means democracy is failing in Pakistan and other countries due to its process. Democracy is not a safe and sound process to rule the country. But is the best process of making fool to the people by their own votes. It is system in which educates and illiterate people take part in selecting their rulers. In non-educated people win the election and is made the Minister of Education. Think, how he can run the Ministry of Education? Can he make educational policies for the country?
Remember in democracy, encourage educated people and discourage uneducated people. If we want to make our country modern and powerful otherwise the Fall of whole world is must like the Fall of Roman Empire. But people do not get any lesson from the fall of Roman Empire because they consider it a game and nothing else on earth.
To sum up, pondering over the definition of democracy, no practical ideal democratic state is present all over the world except Plato’s Republic written in 320 BC. People studied it deeply but could not make an ideal democratic state on earth anywhere. All the corrupt politicians must be hanged anon but in any country it does not happen because at the higher level all eat in one pot and take bath in one washroom.

Nowadays, democracy is being abused by the leaders and continued to spread the actions to their followers. That's the morality of people who are so greedy for having the power. Needless to say, but it is happening around the globe. The misuse of authority creates turmoil to certain countries. In fact, there is no changes and the old system continues to control over leader's mind. That is, to manipulate the local people without justice.
