Since I was a child, I already knew that killing other people is bad in the eye of God. If I am not mistaken, it is written in the Ten Commandments that no onecan kill other people. Killing is bad whether you kill good or bad people. The proposition of the current Congress to restore death penalty is disturbing and alarming. While we hail the administration’s resolve and tenacity in fighting crime, one wonders about the wisdom of meting out the extreme penalty of death. For one, studies indicate it does not deter crime. A genuine response to crime is not only measured by the severity of its punishment but by the certitude of arrest and conviction of offenders.
Moreover, the death penalty is biased against the poor. Death Row was rife with stories about how people were not given adequate and competent legal counsel during their trial. Also, it eliminates clemency, forgiveness, and rehabilitation by the justice system. Contrary to popular opinion, the pursuit of justice is not incompatible with mercy and compassion. Finally, given the imperfections in our criminal justice system, the prospect of executing innocent people remains. Death penalty renders judicial errors irreversible.
I oppose the death penalty not so much for its feeble attempt to curb criminality as its denial of the human right to life. Human life is sacred. Hence, it is imperative that we affirm the dignity of the human personas the foundation of a moral vision for society. We believe that every person is precious and that the measure of every institution is whether it threatens or enhances the life and dignity of the human person. I strongly suggest that we shouldn’t support death penalty. We had reclaimed our moral standing among the nations of the world when the Philippines abolished the death penalty in 2006.
For the love of God, let us not risk losing it again.

That's what people in politics considering the death penalty. I don't really comprehend why they are up to this time. It seems that the new administration enjoys the killings in our country. This is not the answer for controlling the crimes. It is the most bizarre news is when our own Pacman's statements in the public. Is he really thinking? I don't think so. He had involved the manner of Jesus' death. some local people didn't learn from the past. They had voted politicians that are not God-fearing.
Are we blinded by fear? Some Filipinos can see the great impact of changes. Our country became a killing field. It is a talk of the town locally and internationally. I am not proud of it.
I am actually for the death penalty especially that there are a lot of raped victims who were raped and killed. But this should undergo a really thorough investigation and once proven really guilty, should be meted out the death penalty.
For me, having the death penalty back, will deter those rapists and killers from doing them.
