The Cult Vintage Computer Atari 800

This is another very old computer, even older  from MSN Companion which was produced distant 1999 and discontinued in 2003.

Atari is a cult vintage computer which was produced in 1979 and stopped manufacturing 1992. Apparently, this was a company that started a technological revolution. Or evolution. I am not sure, but sure computers evolved much from this one.

One I see on eBay is from 1979 and it is selling price is whopping 300+ dollars. United States dollars.

Atari was  first personal home computer ever, with custom made chipset. At that time the Apple and Commodore in comparison to the Atari were babies. Atari was the main thing, especially for games that were   very popular in that time.

Now we have games on the plate, plug  smartphone in Play Shop and chose on your liking, but those days were different. games were very popular but hard to get.

Atari ran on a very simple OS operating system and was bounded to the floppy drives for playing games.

The whole device is much alike a big typing device with peripheral devices that included the only monitor.

I think the mouse was not even invented at that time.

So, before Atari, there was no game at home, but people played on big rigs in play centers. Then Atari introduces a home  game system and everything changed.

But, with this device you could also write text, communicate , make music, play games, listen to music, calculate, make finance, personal banking and many other things that were unknown to that time but which we take for granted today.

On Youtube, you can find numerous Atari about  commercials from the 80’s- that is the earliest I could go back to find it on Youtube. You will see how simple that device was, but how much it change our vision of what technology can do for us on a personal level.
