Some people seem to have rather odd social structures. They don’t seem to make logical sense.
For example, people who live alone. We now call them ‘Singletons’. But they chose to live alone.
They may have living parents who are a distance away, but they make little effort to visit. Not because their parents are such terrible people or they don’t love them, they just keep them at a distace.
They may have had children, but keep them on the very periphery of their lives. Not that they don’t love their children.
Why?
Taking a closer look, one might discover that people may have a number of broken relationships. Yet, contrarily, they might maintain a friendly connection to their Ex (s).
These people are not hermits or loners; when you meet them they are friendly, compassionate, often well-liked, and may have very interesting lives. It makes no sense why they are alone.
So, why are they alone? Why do they chose to be alone?
Could it be that in a past life they suffered terribly painful losses of loved ones? Could it be that to protect and prevent this kind of heartbreak, ‘again’, they let no one that close, and try to escape those who get that close to avoid another heartbreak?
Imagine living with someone for fifty years, and they die. Suddenly, one is alone. Suddenly one is living in a strange and unfamiliar world where their centre of gravity no longer exists.
How would it feel to have been married for fifty years, and one day, you are alone. The beloved isn’t in the kitchen making tea. The beloved won’t be there to share dinner. The emptiness of this loss is so many times greater than were one to have lived alone most of their lives.
If one does not get close to anyone, doesn’t have one of those double decade relationships, then the death of a beloved is no more terrifying or disruptive than that of a beloved movie star, or an old teacher.
Could it be that these people who chose to be singletons are making that decision not based on current events but as a reaction to a past life?
