These days one longer eats congee for breakfast as most households have got into the habit of introducing a variety of food items for breakfast. But boiled rice is eaten during lunch or dinner.

I agree with that.
My mom used to boil porridge soup, the thick white water that looks like glue, and made me drink it up when I had flu. Well it sure clear up my block nose and I was alive again!
Now, I do make porridge with more water so that my kids could drink them up.
Then, they won't be asking for iced water when eating meal
