Busy people opt for exercising on a treadmill. It may look to be an easy to use contraption but one needs to know one’s speed. It is different for different people. It is therefore advisable that a doctor is consulted preferably a physiotherapist before one goes for the treadmill. It is possible sometimes the treadmill could go out of order and the switches may not work running nonstop and this could be a hazardous situation. It is advisable therefore there is always someone around when one is on a treadmill.
Having said that, when compared to walking a treadmill does not provide that many healthy benefits as walking does.
Treadmill exercise confines one to a place either in one’s own home, in a gym or a health club unlike walking. It is an activity that is more mechanical – a hurried one where thoughts run with it. And this is not good for the mind which needs to slow down during exercise.
Walking has different levels. Some opt for jogging, some for a quick walk and some walk gingerly specially those who have issues with their weak legs. Some need to consult their doctor before starting on their walking journey.
It is not necessary that one should walk miles at a time. Walkoing done in parts during the day has equal benefits. Climbing up the stairs rather than using a lift contributes greatly to one’s health.

– Walking strengthens the leg muscles that help put less load on the spine. This is good for those who already have a weak back.

-There is nothing like going for a walk with loved ones that increases bonding in a peaceful atmosphere.
