As one gets older the first casualty among human beings and even dogs are their joints. Most seniors will go from pillar to post looking for supplements that could give them relief from joint pain. Finally they end up replacing knee caps and even sometimes the hips which does not last long. They are back at square one.
As with any other nutrient that is available in foods I went in Search of foods that contain glucosamine chondroitin, collagen and trace minerals – nutrients that take care of our joints. I came upon chicken feet .
Pretty our dog has been eating chicken feet every day. They are cooked and she is served with the broth and cooked rice. She enjoys her meal and has healthy joints and bones. She is 9 years old. .
A soup made from chicken legs will not only taste great but will take care of our bones specially our knee ligaments which are the first casualty as we grow older.
I am seriously thinking of eating my dog’s food. Why not? She is healthy. She has no issues with her bones.
I see seniors around me always complaining of joint pains. If they have chicken feet soup in their diet they are sure to have no issues with joint pain. There are supplements that contain glucosamine, chondroitin, and collagen and trace minerals but nothing like getting them in our food. No supplements can compare with food that contains such nutrients.
Chicken feet used to be discarded by butchers which were gradually introduced in a dog’s diet. They are now sold although earlier they were given away free. Slowly once human beings realize their worth they will cost more but not as much as what supplements cost. Also they taste good when cooked using some recipes. Just a broth with some garnishing should taste good too.

There are so many of you who don’t love chicken feet. I’m firmly in the other camp, a believer of eating chicken feet and other odd bits.
It’s fortunate that I like the gelatinous, sometimes chewy texture – depending on whether they are stewed, boiled or fried – but confess the sight of those fleshy “fingers” freaks me out every time.
There are just so many health benefits to eating chicken feet that if you are concerned about eating well, healing through food and doing the sustainable thing, you just can’t ignore them.
Top on the list is their collagen content. Collagen fills the body’s intercellular space and is the most abundant protein in animals, making up about 30% of our protein content – think of it as the cement that props up your house.
As the body ages, it becomes less efficient at replenishing collagen, leading to sagging skin and joint pain and osteoporosis. If you are concerned about wrinkles and mobility as I am, you may want to supplement the body’s collagen through diet.
