Amazon is truly a convenient one-stop-shop for a number of household items. Often times, I find a lot of things that we regularly use on this site that I can’t find in the groceries or are cheaper! The apartment concierge often jokes when there is a new box of delivery for our unit. Well, it usually came from various online shops but I’d say that an Amazon delivery usually arrives every month!
One of the things I use Amazon for is to buy coffee beans. I used to buy it thru a different website called DiscountCoffee but we want to try a different bag sometimes. DiscountCoffee is still a great resource to buy coffee beans but I’d say that if I want to taste a different brand, I’d go for Amazon. They have more brands and roasts for selection compared to DiscountCoffee anyway!
Last month, I bought Caffe Monforte Espresso Roasted Coffee Beans. My husband picked one bag (which I forgot to write a review on, sorry!) but I chose this because it is cheap and buying it will make our order eligible for free delivery. Sweet!
At the time I ordered this, this pack of 2 500g pack costs almost half the price. It was perfect, actually. I only needed a small amount to add up to my order at the time to get free delivery. So instead of paying for the delivery, it was smarter to pay for an additional item we can use for the house instead.
Amazon describes this bag of beans as a medium roast. I initially didn’t want to buy this bag since it is roasted with 70% of Robusta beans – a variant I am not overly fond of. I am an Arabica-bean person and usually, prefer this over the Robusta. However, I think it is quite typical for Italian coffee blends to be made of more Robusta and remembered our trips to Italy. I didn’t have any complaints about the coffee while we were there so it shouldn’t be too bad, right?
I enjoy my morning cup with milk – so a latte is necessary. I love this full-bodied flavor and similar to other medium roasted beans I have tried in the past, this has the right amount of acidity coming from the Robusta. It is not overly sour, too. It just has the right amount of “punch” to make the coffee flavor still stand out even if made with milk.
My husband enjoys a cup of espresso and so far, haven’t heard any complaints from him, too. So I guess, even if this bag is mostly made with Robusta, the acidity is not too much for him. He can still enjoy to drink it on its own so steaming milk is not necessary.
Overall, I really like this bag and appreciate I bought it at such a fantastic price. I hope that I can still buy this again from Amazon – I wouldn’t mind at all!
