Had a Bad Day to See a Peacock Die

With concrete jungles mushrooming everywhere we often see groups of peacocks roaming the streets here in our neighbourhood. They also walk right in and even fly up on our roof.

I had a good  capture in my camera on one of those encounters I had with a group of peacocks. They were roaming around in the garden. When they saw me they flew high up and two of them perched on current wires. Those were tension cables and both of them fell down. One died instantly and the other had injuries.

It made me very sad and wondered may be if I had not gone closer they would not have noticed me and they would have continued to roam around here. I did not mean to frighten them but they did that day.

While the injured one went out of sight, I picked up the dead bird and with the help of one of my neighbours the bird was buried in our garden. Luckily there was a pit that was meant for a tree that I had plans to plant.

Slowly the fauna is getting displaced and wonder what their plight will be in course of years, with buildings coming up in areas which were once their habitat. .

I am in a way at peace as we have a garden that is filled with a lot greenery that attracts quite a few of the fauna, We even had a civet cat some time ago not to talk of reptiles.  Reptiles need to be left alone and they will not harm us. We have our pet dog that alerts us if she spots a reptile in our garden but will never go close to it. We have had occasions when we had called in a snake catcher who is known to catch them and leave them in jungles. We pay for these services.
