How to avoid impulse spending?

If you are prone to impulse spending, you will know the bad feeling that comes after each shopping trip.

You may find you are very happy at the point of buying things, but the minute you reach home, you will feel very bad about it.

How to avoid impulse spending?

The easiest way is to avoid shopping alone.  If you want to go shopping, go with someone that is more budget conscious, and will stop you from anyhow buy things.

Even if the desire to spend is very strong, your friend will at least stop you from buying right then and there.

She will ask you to return home, and think about it for a few days.

Another way is to keep the money and credit card at home.  If you have no money, and no credit card, you cannot buy anything even if you want to.

If you need to buy grocery, make sure you bring just enough money, and bring along your shopping list.

After you have bought the grocery for the week, you have no more cash for impulse shopping.  The best is that you buy the heavy stuff, such as potato, rice, cooking oil, carrots and fruits.

After you have paid for the grocery, you probably have no mood to shop for other things.

Impulse spending reflects very badly on your ability to manage your emotions.  It is not a reflection of your ability to manage your finance.  The problem is always an emotional problem.

If you have the problem of impulse spending, that means you are emotionally weak in other areas too.

You are better off going for a run or a long walk to cool your mind and calm your emotions.

After your bout of exercise, you are either too tired to think about impulse spending or you are calm enough to think rationally.
