Ubuntu 17.04 is Now Released on Official Website

The second last of the Unity release of the Ubuntu is here. This time the version 17.04 is here. And this version has the Unity desktop. Though in future this desktop is not going to be here. And that means people have to switch to gnome or KDE eventually. But overall things are looking good with it. Ubuntu seems to be shutting down on some of it’s innovation and they may not be doing the serious work on the desktop anymore. So you can expect the core team to low down on the ubuntu desktop. It won’t be profitable as it is. So surely it would be something many people switching away from.

Here are some of the new changes in the Ubuntu 17.04.

It seems the Unity 7 is continued even in this release. No new changes to the HUD. And that means the system has nothing new to offer. Also there are not going to be any good security updates for the same in future. So use it if you want ot use it for 1 year or so release.

It seems ubuntu has got rid of the swap partition. And instead the swap files concept is out there. You can find that swap files is something they want to add to their list of options as well. The kernel also seems to be updated and that means there is a lot of core level update. So not that you have to ignore the update. But you are good to go with the LTS releaase too.

There are many other small changes such as desktop wallpaper is changed. And there are some DNS level changes. So things are lot improved compared to the past. That can be one good thing there as well.
