Sometimes faith get over too much of our brain. And we start to defend our faith in such way that we end up being outcast. And this leads to cult mindset. In fact the overall incidents that are leading to this sort of mindset is bad. Cult mindset often leads people to death. Something people don’t think they will accept unless they are brainwashed enough. It can be really bad for many people and their families if anyone gets into the cult. I have found that there are some of the cases which resulted in complete chaos and death. Take example of Jones town. It resulted into mass suicide ground. And people died trying to stick with the leader of the Jones town. And that’s something we can never understand why people do all of that stuff.
Fear
Sometimes we take shelter of faith when we are afraid. There is nothing wrong with that. However there are gatekeepers of faith in every religion. The gatekeeper in Christianity are usually the pastor or higher level of authority like pope. There are many instances where pastor have used the fear of people and manipulated them in many ways. In case of Jones town the people who joined this town were really feeling bad about their life. And they wanted to escape from this materialistic world. They wanted to make changes to their own life.
Seclusion
When you are under influence of fear, you find shelter under seclusion. And you try to build your own life in some sort of darkness. You feel that staying away from things that hurt you will change things. That is what happened with Jones town too. They got themselves far away from the real world. They created a fortress and tried to build a town inside. That changed the way things were eventually started running there. And this also resulted in people getting afraid of how they had to live with some of the twisted minded people in higher authority. That’s where things went wrong.
Defense
Almost every cult tries to defend itself. And Jones town was no different. They appointed local mafia security to protect their gates. And they tried to keep the foreigners away. This meant that the system established by the town was going wrong. You have nothing to protect if you want peace. But then again they thought that was the right way to do things. And they did things that way which eventually got people killed. I would not be surprised at which many people started doubting them. And they wanted to leave. But when the leader realized that people are not happy he called for mass suicide.
So sometimes we have to believe in ourselves. Instead of believing in definition of others for god and faith. Because god should not be prisoner of any religion. He must have open access to everyone without any religion policing him.
Don’t you think?

Every time I hear a reference to the Jones Town Tragedy, the words that immediately come to my mind are: LETHAL DECEPTION with TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES. There was no excuse for following a man like that. This is what happens when people make other people their IDOL.
