GENERATION GAP: HOW TO COPE WITH IT?

Generation gap is defined as a gap that separates the old and the. It is an invisible line that resides between two or generations which differ in various forms both biologically as well as spiritually.
It covers all the differences of thoughts , behavior, actions, cultures and outlook. In some cases the differences are so profound and the gap is becomes so wide that it becomes impossible to cover it up.
This gap has been and will continue to be present between parents and children and grandparents and grand children as well. But to be true it all lies in the mind. If one wants to cover this gap all he needs to is widen his horizon an learn to accept and change. This gap covers multiple reasons to differ but none of them is so big that it cannot be solved.
The first reason is change of speech. The type and quality of words that are used have been changing over ages. There is no doubt that there has been a massive change in the way the people communicate with one another. The modern age allows liberal use of slang which is unacceptable by the adults most of the times. In addition to it, speech of present generation has become very blunt and straightforward. This might make them misunderstood in some cases even though their intentions are pure. Proper guidance and mutual conservation can really help to solve the differences.
The second reason is the changing lifestyle. The way the people live their life has changed considerably over the ages.It is natural for the older generation to disregard the modern trends and cultures. But understanding that the need of time will really help them to understand their children’s outlook.
The third reason is changing technology. It is advancing at a fast speed that it has become difficult to keep pace with it especially for the adults. They might feel neglected or out of place when they are unable to understand new things. Here comes the responsibility of the children to teach the new advancements to their parents and keep stimulating them to move forward. At the same time it is the responsibility of the adults to value the efforts put in by their kids and adapt the needed changes. The ongoing process of learning new things should not stop.
Another reason is the modern outlook. It is true that the younger generation has a more casual outlook towards life. They want to work but at the same time they give equal importance to fun and leisure. They do not think much before spending which in most of the cases is unaccpetable by their parents. Parents should understand that it is the life of their kids and it is their decision how they wnt to live it. They should have confidence in their upbringing and should always have faith that their kids have the insight to differentiate between the right and the wrong.
Every individual is different and everyone has a certain likes and dislikes. Respecting each others opinion is the foremost requirement if one wants to soothe this gap. If everyone will value each others likes and will allow them to follow them, there are minimum chances of ideals and beliefs getting clashed.
Mutual love, care , understanding and respect can really help to keep the things under control.The best part is communication. Thoughts when discussed can really create wonders. So it is better to speak your heart out.
