Madhuparkam and Jeelakarra-Bellam

Bringing the bride in a bamboo basket:Bamboo basket means bamboo vessel, without any donation the marriage cannot be done, which is not acceptable which is quite opposite to the tradition, even sastras will also the same. Therefore this kind program has been provided, it is our tradition to get the married the daughter of maternity uncle. Now a days this kind of marriages have been diminished, therefore it it presumed that it is good to get the behest of maternity uncle. It is therefore the maternity uncle of the bride will bring her in a united bamboo basket to the marriage dais  and make her will sit in front of the bridegroom,who will be sitting behind the screen. Then will ask the parents of the bride to give her to the bridegroom in the marriage and thus donate her as “KANYAADAANAM”.Thus the maternal uncle will act as main witness in the drama, later the parents of the bridegroom will give new clothes to him and thus he will be honored

Jeelakarra-Bellam( paste of Jeera and Jaggery mix).The bride and bridegroom sitting oppositely on the marriage dias, will put up the paste made with Jeera and Jaggery on their heads each other on the moment when the auspicious time arrive. This will make them one, mentally, though they are saperate physically. Later the purohit unvail the screen in between them for staring each other.  In that context the following mantras will be recited by the purohits.

      Meaning of mantram: This means that let the SUN God, the brother of

      Lakshmi devi , would augment the couple.  Let the BRUHAPATHY, preceptor of SURRAS, would augment the couple in respect of lineage and the INDRA would augment her health for healthy lineage by decaying ailments, if any.

     Meaning of mantram:It means that the bridegroom will teach certain things to the bride to be followed that you should stare at others with kind looks, in respect of husband, brother-in-laws and kith & kin you stare with blissful and happy looks.Be with good heart and with good delightfulness face, get a dareful and brave lineage. Worship gods and perform poojas in the house, please behave with honourly, respectively and friendly with mate human beings and with animals.

     Thus the bridegroom will teach to the bride as above. Later the bridegroom will remove the mistakes which may be storing in heart of bride by reciting the following manthras.

      Meaning of manthras: ‘O’ my bear bride if you have any desire in your heart,earlier to kill your husband or others. I wish to remove such kind of wicked ideas from your heart with this celestial “Dharba”(Holy grass). By saying these words, bridegroom will take a celestial “Dharba” and sweep right from feet to the end of hair of the bride and later get her bathed  in the milk.

   Meaning of manthra: By reciting above manthra the bride will worship “Agni” (fire) god praying to give long lifespan, health, wealth and with proper relationship to her uncle, aunt,brother-in-laws and request to fulfill her wishes. This will be done by performing ‘HOMAM” holy fire.
