The Price To Play

Why is it that school Sports cost so much?

The cost of activities that was once used as molding and guidance tools are ridiculous. I remember having to be involved in an extracurricular activity when growing up. Our so called county parks and schools which serves the communities seems to have more focus on money then giving these kids an outlet. I myself try hard as I can to keep my two sons involved in some type of activity.

The cost hurts but it seems this is what you have to do. Go broke to give them opportunities. Pay your county to lower their prison rate and theft rate. These kids need coaches and teammates verses cell mates. Why must the parent pay a mortgage for it or go broke for opportunity for their child? I challenge the law makers to look into your park involvement and school sports enrollment before looking at your crime stats. This is not to say activities stop problems but I’m saying give EVERYONE a CHANCE. They can get a GANG for FREE. They can break in your house for FREE.

We have new stadiums being built for millionaires who overlook the kids who idolize them. My kids have friends who has never played a Sport or had an opportunity due to finances. Parks are full of kids watching on wishing while the commissioners and everyone sit back. In your court rooms you talk about these kids as if they’re nothing. Blame is sometimes placed on parents who were also a victim of this system.

The kids who parents are able is not the issue. It’s the ones who are placed in situations which they can’t control but are forced to live by. The drop out rate and crime rate comes later on in a kid life. Government is all about fixing issues once they have occurred. What do you do to lower the occurrence of these negative activities? Give everyone something to do. Stop placing a fee behind everything that’s beneficial. Stop making this a parent issue or choice when the parks/schools make the fees. Georgia lottery funding is supposedly used for education.

What is being used for extracurricular? After they finished being educated what are they going home to? I truly believe this is all a conspiracy. Let’s make it harder if they’re not able sort of thing. If the parent can’t afford it you just leave the kid out. I pray for guidance and a solution to this issue. Georgia has a no kid left behind policy for schools but what about recreation. There are many stats but no solutions but building jails for kids who found an affiliation. Calling them gang members because they couldn’t play for a local park which their county CEO makes enough alone to fund an entire park. Well I guess that doesn’t matter because their kids receive the best. Doesn’t mean they don’t have issues. Please give all kids a CHANCE.

I think for every dollar given to a jail a dollar should go to a kid in need. Basic needs are everyday. I’m talking life long lessons and relationships. Stop making these kids into criminals when it’s your county fault. Why do you have to move from your county to receive better? Well I guess slavery do still exist. Rich getting richer poor getting poorer. Adults have learned to cope but kids are different. Box majority in one location giving them the worst schools and recreation. Well there you go government this is truly a recipe for disaster.

    • I really pity you for the situation. The situation is not so pitiable with India as the Govts and Administrators doing somewhat better realizing and feeling the element of social responsibility.

    • Yes, you say right the situation you have written in your article is worst due to lack of responsibility of the government but in all countries the situation is not the same but I say in my country the situation of game and ground is very and no government and administrators do not pay attention to sports.

Children play games in the streets and on the roads breaks daily someone 's bike or car glasses unknowingly playing on the road. The government must pay attention to this problem.

The article has elicited all kinds of opinions on parenting, spoiled children, bad coaching, and ridiculous rules and regulations in youth sports leagues. It brought up talk of the Philadelphia dad who was suing for $40 million because his son got cut from the track team, and the Dallas father who brought a racketeering suit against a lacrosse camp. They are a reflection of so much of what is wrong in youth sports today.

You don’t sue and waste precious taxpayer time and money because your child is not getting playing time. Your daughter says she isn’t even sure she wants to play college volleyball! Mom also wrote to the coach, “It is important that she plays, and plays the position you offered her of setter as that is the position she plays in high school.”

Really? You don’t get to tell a coach where your kid plays. Just be a parent, let the coach be the coach, and let the game belong to your child. The parents in this case have taken a teachable moment and ruined it
