The Great Game of Hockey And Its Basics

India has always been a country which is sports oriented and it plays and follow many sports and hockey is its national game and many people in India follow hockey a lot. Hockey is a game in which at one time, total of 22 players battle it out to win the ball and try to put the ball in the place designated as Goal and it is on both sides. For example if A side is playing from left to right then it has to goal in the place designated in the right side and vice versa for B side. The game of hockey is in total of only 70 Minutes and it was earlier split into 35 minutes of two half’s but now a days and with the successful experiment in Indian Hockey league from past 2 Years, FIH which is the Federation of International Hockey has decided to use that thing in International matches as well. So nowadays we all witness hockey matches split into 4 equal quarters of 17.5 Minutes each and this is made the game a bit better as now players can up their energy levels as they know that they will only play for 17.5 Minutes and then will have some break to refresh themselves and also to make timely Strategies as well.
So In hockey both teams have a goal keeper as well who guards the goal and he wear all sort of protective equipment as well like the pads, leg guards, helmet, shin guard and arm guard as well and it also has to hold a hockey stick as well. The position of Goal keeper is most important as its the only one who can win you many matches and help you out in many tough conditions and if you don’t have a able keeper or Goal keeper then the team will surely suffer a lot. As for penalizing there are penalty strikes and penalty corners and if you have good goal keeper only then you can save on those mistakes.
