Sri Lanka Beat India in Tri Series, 2013

India and Sri Lanka was scheduled to play a 7 Match One Day International Tri Series in West Indies in 2013. All teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as they are ranked at 2,3 and 6. The 3rd ONE DAY international match was to be played on Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica, and West Indies on 2nd July 2013 between Sri Lanka and India. India holds the upper hand as they are more experienced team and playing very well as well.

India won the toss and opts to bowl first; this is how Sri Lanka team and 11 was looking like in this 3rd ONE DAY international match: Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Lasith Malinga, Rangana Herath, Upul Tharanga, Nuwan Kulasekara, Ajantha Mendis, Angelo Mathews (c), Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal, Jeevan Mendis

And Indian team and 11 was looking like this in this 3rd ONE DAY international Match: Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin,Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav

Sri Lanka batted very well and was able to post total of only 348 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 1 wicket and with top scores of Upal T who made 174 runs in 159 balls with 19 4’s and 3 six at the strike rate of 109 runs in 100 balls and M Jaya who made 107 runs in 112 balls with 9 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 95 runs in 100 balls.

India was needed to score 349 runs in 50 over’s to win this match.

India batted well but was able to chase the target of 349 runs and was able to make only 187 runs in 44.5 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and lost the game by 161 runs and with top contributions from R Jadeja who made 49 runs in 62 balls with 4 4’s and 1 sixes at the strike rate of 79 runs in 100 balls.

Sri Lanka won the match by 161 runs.
