Sri Lanka Beat Australia in 3rd ODI of series, 2013

Sri Lanka was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Australia in 2013. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as both are ranked at 3 and 5. The 3rd ONE DAY international match was to be played on The Gabba, Brisbane, Australia on 18th Jan 2013. Australia holds the upper hand as they are more experienced team and playing at home.

Australia won the toss and opts to bat first; this is how Australia team and 11 was looking like in this 3rd ONE DAY international match: Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, David Hussey, Phillip Hughes, George Bailey (c), Aaron Finch, B Cutting, Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Xavier Doherty

 

And Sri Lanka team and 11 was looking like this in this 3rd ONE DAY international Match: Mahela Jayawardene (c), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lasith Malinga, Upul Tharanga, Nuwan Kulasekara, Ajantha Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Jeevan Mendis.

 

Australia did not batted well, rather batted poorly and was able to post total of only 74 runs in 26.4 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and with top scores of M Starc who batted very well and made 22 runs in 28 balls with 2 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 79 runs in 100 balls and X Doherty made 15 runs in 27 balls with 3 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 56 runs in 100 balls, Extras contributed 5 runs with 0 byes, 2 leg byes, 3 wide balls, and 0 bowlers over stepped.

Sri Lanka was needed to score 75 runs in 50 over’s to win this match at the run rate required of 1.5 runs per over.

Sri Lanka batted well and was able to chase the score of 75 runs in 20 over’s at the loss of 6 wicket only and won the game by 4 wickets in hand and top scores by K perera who batted very well and aggressively and made 22 runs in 28 balls with 4 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 79 runs in 100 balls , T Dilshan who batted very well  and made 22 runs in 33 balls with 3 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 67 runs in 100 balls faced and Upal T who batted well and made 12 runs in 15 balls with 2 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 80 runs in 100 balls faced  and extras contributed 5 runs with 0 byes, 1 leg byes, 3 wide balls, and 1 bowlers over stepped for no balls.

Sri Lanka won the match by 4 wickets in hand  and full 30 over’s or we should say 180 balls still remaining in the match to be bowled and now this 5 Match ONE DAY international series stands at 2-1, and in favor of Sri Lanka with 2 more games to play. Nuwan K was the man of the match for his great bowling spell and performance in which he picked 5 wickets by only giving away 22 runs.
