Scotland was outclassed by Bangladesh in CWC 1999

In the 17th match of the ICC cricket world cup, Scotland was against the Bangladesh team. This game was played on Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh, England on 24th May, 1999.

Both teams are already out of the ICC Cricket world 1999, but still they want to at least won their respective remaining games.

Scotland won the toss and opts to bowl and this means, Bangladesh will bat first and set a target for Scotland to chase later in the game.

This is how Scotland team and 11 were looking like: John Blain, Gavin Hamilton, Ian Stanger, James Brinkley, Asim Butt, Alec Davies (wk), Nick Dyer, Ian Philip, Bruce Patterson, George Salmond (c),Mike Smith

And Bangladesh team and 11 were looking like: Khaled Mahmud, Khaled Mashud (wk), Minhajul Abedin, Aminul Islam (c),Akram Khan, Enamul Haque, Faruk Ahmed, Hasibul Hossain, Naimur Rahman, Mehrab Hossain, Manjural Islam

Bangladesh started very badly and lost their 5 wickets for only 26 runs in 10.3 over’s in the form of K Mashud, M hossain, A Islam, A khan and F ahmed. But after that they batted sensibly and post a total of 185 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 9 wickets with the contribution of Minhajul Abedin who scored 68 runs in 116 balls with 6 4’s and strike rate of 58 runs in 100 balls and N Rahman made 36 runs in 58 balls with 5 4’s at the strike rate of 62 runs in 100 balls.

Scotland started badly and lost three wickets in quick sensation and then after that also they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 163 runs in 46.2 over’s and only Gavin Hamilton played well as he only scored above 50 i.e. 63 runs in 71 balls with 4 4’s and 1 six and strike rate of 89 runs in 100 balls.

Bangladesh won the game by 22 runs and Minhajul Abedin was the Man of the match.
