Eight in my list of my Favorite cricket match is a tri-series played between India, Australia and Zimbabwe. This match is between Australia and Zimbabwe, played at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia on 26th Jan, 2004.
Zimbabwe hasn’t yet won a single game in this series and hasn’t even competed well in the series.
Australia has won the toss and decided to bat first, so Zimbabwe will be bowling first.
This is how the Aussie Team and 11 looks like: Ricky Ponting (c), Andrew Symonds, Jason Gillespie, Brett Lee, Damien Martyn, Michael Clarke, Brad Hogg, Matthew Hayden, Brad Haddin (wk),Michael Bevan, Brad Williams
And Zimbabwe 11 looks like this: Tatenda Taibu (wk), Stuart Matsikenyeri, Ray Price, Grant Flower, Heath Streak (c), Stuart Carlisle, Andy Blignaut, Travis Friend, Dion Ebrahim,Douglas Hondo, Sean Ervine
Australia batted very well on the slow and sluggish pitch and managed to score 279 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in allotted fifty over’s with the contribution of Brad haddin, Michael Bevan, Michael Clarke and skipper Ricky Ponting who made 63 runs in 71 balls with 11 fours at the strike rate of 88 and Bevan making the highest of 75 runs in 91 balls with 6 fours and strike rate of 82 and Andrew Symonds chipped in with 34 runs in 30 balls with 3 fours at a good strike rate of above 100.
Zimbabwe needs to chase 280 runs in 50 over’s.
Zimbabwe batted very well and with the contributions of Grant Flower who make 94 runs in 106 balls with 7 fours and 89 strike rate and small contributions of Sean Ervine and Heath Streak and Andy Blignaut, but Zimbabwe wont able to win the game and lost the match by 13 runs and only manage 266 runs in 50 over’s with the loss of 8 wickets.
Grant flower was the Man of the match for his fine knock but he couldn’t help Zimbabwe in beating Australia but at one time it’s like a Australian lose but they manage to win still.
