The anointed voices of the "DeBarge Family."
Imagine coming from hardships and abuse and the only outlet is music. Where there’s a family who suffered through pain, heartache, and trials that so many can’t even imagine experiencing. The family who is blessed to not only be musically inclined but to have a very large family bond. “The DeBarge Family.” So many have criticized this family for their history but I’m not going to discuss their painful history but more about their anointed gifts. God has truly blessed each and every last one of the DeBarge’s with a gift of music.
One can not deny that the most musically inclined was Bobby DeBarge. Bobby had a very pleasant falsetto voice. His range was like no other. Bobby was the older brother of Eldra DeBarge so many know him as El DeBarge. In fact El DeBarge is also a falsetto singer and he learned a lot from Bobby DeBarge. Just thinking about how talented the DeBarge family is is emotional. They’re gifts are “remarkable” beyond compare.
Bobby and Eldra’s mother “Mama DeBarge” is also gifted with a very spiritual voice. She made sure that her children grow up in the church and practiced with their uncles. They’re instrumental abilities were self taught and they’re truly blessed with being able to not only play an instrument but sing like angels. The DeBarge Family unites their family with music. Their voices are so soothing. They’re able to share their music abilities through the pain they’ve experienced in the past. Pain can generate a lot of “gifts.”
What About Chico DeBarge
Chico DeBarge is very talented as well. He has a very unique style. He doesn’t sing like Bobby or El DeBarge but he has a soulful tone a bit jazzy. He can play the keyboard and has done wonders with Marvin Gaye songs. Chico DeBarge is a solo artist with amazing talent. Being an artist or entertainer isn’t easy but Chico DeBarge seems to hold his own. He has a popular song that so many may know called “Love Still Good.” Another song that has some soulfulness to it is called “Free” Can listen here.
Can’t forget Eldra DeBarge B.K.A. El DeBarge. El continues to write music and bless his fans with his falsetto tone. In 2010 his “Second Chance” album was released. The album was filled with soft melodies and the soothing sounds that have always come from El DeBarge. His fans are waiting for another album and perhaps an album will be on its way. El continues to perform and work in the studio. There’s no denying how talented the DeBarge’s are and El is no exception. “Second Chance” can be listened here. Enjoy!
A Little bit of the Spiritual Sounds from “Mama DeBarge and Daughters
Mama DeBarge is the gospel singer and the author of “The Other Side of the Pain.” There will have to be a reorder for the autographed book. The book is well worth the read. Years back there was a brief discussion with “Mama DeBarge.” “The Other Side of Pain” hit home in so many ways. Through all of the pain Mama DeBarge remained strong and filled with “faith.” Her musical voice is also appreciated by not only her fans but her children. I must be living under a rock. I didn't know any of the DeBarge family members were still pursuing a music career other than El DeBarge. What they need to do to put themselves back on the map is collaborate with some of the new successful artists. Hey! It worked for Santana and he wasn't even off the map! :)
This is a family that is really blessed and gifted in singing. I have in the part years listened to their music and I was so moved. Whoever has never heard this mellow voices doing their thing you ha e no idea what you are missing. I like the fact that the mother was fast enough in nurturing the talents in her children's lives. She actually took time and analysed her children and thought that something could be done to take them to greater levels. That's why I always say, that parents should watch their kids very closely cos you never know what you could get out of those children that you ha e in the house. If you see your child being persistent on doing some things even if you don't like it, think twice before you ask that child to stop wasting their time doing it. Instead watch and learn and am sure as you continue watching you might just like what you see. something good can come out of that thing that you may not like. Give them a chance and see what comes out of it
