In West, and especially Hollywood, many movies are based with Office/Services backdrop. They have a main character who is mostly in office and has a dull existence. There is someone who is calm, some are violent. Yet overall, such movies can also have a good round.
Some are realistic while others have too much of gimmick, and a story that does not convinces.
In such cases, director has to make sure that the movies don’t go off-track.
One movie I am going to talk about is :
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
In 2013, came a movie that has the core story of a person who does not have a silver spoon.
Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio)plays this character, who is into stockbroking, but loses his job during 1987 market crash in United States. However, he and his friend Donnie, played by Jonah Hill start a new company, which is given the name ‘Stratton Oakmont’.
Yet apart from hard work, and brain, the firm’s working is dubious.
Also, Jordan gets into the habits of drugs, affairs with other women etc.
The movie has scenes wherin the main character Jordan is showing indulging in parties, and entertaining friends and women.
This also leads ultimately to troubles with friends, family and police too.
There are twists and turns and some bizzare events.
In the end, Jordan receives a lesser sentence of 36 months.
He then switches to organizing seminars on Sales Technique, which is much simpler.
Martin Scorsese directed this movie. Apart from Leonardo, we have Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie and Matthew McConaughey.
Overall, the film looks good in some parts, else the story looks a bit preditcable. Overall, the film will not be like one which every section will like to watch, but could be liked by those who like movies with intricacies of the corporate world.
Still, can be watched once.
