Australia Test series way many do nowadays. open tab automatically refreshes score. Occasionally, I watch video that appears on my Facebook newsfeed.
It is sad. And The BCCI is trying its best to revive Test cricket by choosing newer & smaller venues where they hope purist fans of the game will arrive in the hordes to watch Cheteshwar Pujara surpass Rahul Dravid by facing more than the 500 balls in one innings, which in itself is equivalent to the more than two T20 matches.
Without doubt Pujara’s innings was great, but some writing habits do die hard. Pujara slams double century almost sounds like inappropriate behaviour towards English language and insult to Virendra Sehwag. Still, I do not get BCCI’s strategy of to trying to revive Test cricket in the Dharamsala and Ranchi. Next venue could be the Jim Corbett Park hoping some deer, jumbos and the tigers will be interested in ball hitting bat & an occasional single.
It is really heartful to watch all these.Cricket is a game.
And now Aussie has media ganging up against Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Kohli is not the first Indian captain to be attacked by Aussie. Ask Sourav Ganguly & he laughs it away. They loved to have a go at me in 2003 4. Knowing what had happened in 2001 in India, I was the their prime target when we toured down under.
Take them on both on & off the field. Much is being said about Kohli trying to have a go at Steve Smith & that he is unsportsmanlike. Frankly, there is no harm in Kohli being bully when the opposition captain decides to consult dressing room on being given out lbw and whether to resort to DRS.
And We in India, too, are at fault.so How many times have the Australian papers headlined opinions of Indian past players about their players?why is it that we headline what Ian Healy may have said or written? Australian media will do well to focus on their players for a change. Can Josh Hazlewood & Pat Cummins stand up to the strain of bowling 100 plus overs in Ranchi? Can Lyon, with cut in his finger, hold the ball in Dharamsala? can Steve O’Keefe turn up yet again to bowl 400 odd balls like he did in the Third Test? how many times will Aussie skipper have a brain fade? We have seen him have it twice already, once in Bengaluru once in Ranchi to get bowled. Maybe third will cost him the series.
As far as Kohli goes, it is best Aussies leave him alone. As Michael Vaughn had famously commented, “Virat isfreak.” And it is always best not to the take freaks on. For you do not know what may come at you.
Kohli had told me in May 2016, I am like monk in a civil society, when asked how he handles all adulation and pressure. It is time for monk to get into action. A Virat hundred in Dharamsala will be just riposte to all this an Australian cacophony.
